"District School Board Elections; Provides that elected candidate for district school board must reside in district school board member residence area by date she or he assumes office instead of upon qualifying for office." House Bill 411 (2023) - The Florida Senate Google is your friend.
This is all I could find and they still have to live in Florida Florida Republican files bill allowing school-board candidates to run for election before they live in district
It may be that a different type student will be attracted to UF. I mean, thousands of kids go to Liberty University for religious indoctrination. Not every person feels comfortable in an open DEI environment
After all, it is Florida taxpayers who fund the University. It seems preference ought to be given to them.
To me admissions s/be like anything else. Take the best and brightest. Contrary to what some folks think UF student population is already 85-90% Fla residents, which is higher than most neighboring states. The problem is Florida's population has grown to the point that not all can get in that want to. I get the frustration but I'm not a fan of dumbing down the school just so more party hounds can get in. (And no I'm not ask against parties).
There is a stupid culture war going on everywhere in this country so not sure the grass will be any greener anywhere else. But it is her loss and I’m sure UF will find a worthy candidate to take her place.
Maybe the GE example wasn’t the best, they have really made a huge comeback based on their stock price.
Perhaps 'stupid culture wars' are going on everywhere, but not all culture wars are about the same issues with the same level of intensity. There are places where kindness and tolerance are celebrated, and where the young lady may choose to attend.
You’re a bit out of touch. It’s a very big factor for 18 to 22-year old women who expect to be sexually active, which is most of them.
