Are there any other point guards in the transfer portal besides Perry that we are interested in signing?

Nothing confirmed, really. That sounds like a positive thing to me, but hard to say. Sounds like they plan to start Clayton at the one and hope they get Thomas to reclassify (unless Perry comes).

    What’s the scuttlebutt on Aberdeen?

I figured since he stayed here the coaching staff had faith in his development but continuing to pursue other PGs makes me wonder.

There are 13 scholarships. If I coach wants to use all of them, there are going to be multiple players at every position.

You have 13 scholarships so you can be more than 2 deep at all 5 positions. From what little I saw of Aberdeen last season, I really liked his potential. Being 6'5" and having played HS ball with Kugel can't hurt. In his second year in the program, I can see him playing 15 mpg at the point, if he gets the projected improvement from freshman to sophomore year

Clayton and Aberdeen is all we really need at PG unless there are injuries. Any more than two players getting meaningful minutes at point is going to disrupt the players' rhythm. Most guys could easily play 35+ minutes out of 40. I wasn't a D1 athlete and at that age, I could play all 40 minutes in two games back to back and still be good. These guys could do even more.

I think and hope you're right. But we don't truly know how well either will do at the point in the SEC.
Right now, I see Clayton starting at the point and playing 30 minutes a game, with Aberdeen getting 5 to 10, and Kugel getting minutes here and there.
Looks like Aberdeen was a 32% 3-point shooter and 81% free-throw shooter in high school.

I see no reason to believe Clayton can't play at a high level in the SEC. Aberdeen seemed to be fine in limited sample size as well. That doesn't mean I'm guaranteeing their success, but I don't have any concerns or apprehension at the moment.

Interesting get. He has trouble defending big guards but can go right through the legs of them too.

Toledo's Dennis, MAC Player of Year, enters portal

Toledo guard RayJ Dennis, the MAC Player of the Year, entered the transfer portal on Wednesday.

Dennis immediately becomes one of the best available basketball players on the transfer market.

The 6-foot-2 Dennis averaged 19.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists last season, leading Toledo to a 27-8 record and Mid-American Conference regular-season championship. The Rockets won 17 games in a row before falling in the conference tournament title game to Kent State. He scored in double figures every game last season.

Posh Alexander committed to Butler. I would have taken him at UF in a heartbeat. Probably the best defensive point guard in the country and a great team player. If I recall correctly, he was the defensive player of the year in the Big East as a freshman.
