We gator fans can attest that a poor win/loss record is not always indicative of having no talent. Poor depth probably more likely but even during our years of losing seasons to Georgia Southerns and Vandys, we still had our players drafted when the NFL came calling. I'm willing to guarantee that there are at least a handful of serviceable players on the buffs squad from last year that would benefit from either a change of coaches, culture, scheme or a bit of all of them. It's just shitty he walked in day 1 and insulted all of them by saying he wanted them to transfer. And maybe its just me but its pretty egotistical to have a Coach who's only coaching success has come at a HBCU with a team that was loaded with more talent than any team in his league due to the norm of elite players playing at the power 5 level and not the little leagues. He talks as if he has accomplished what Saban or Smart has done and he couldn't carry their jockstrap wrt coaching

Probably an unpopular take, but is Dion just ahead of the curve? To me this is the inevitable result of college football turning into basically everyone is a 1 year free agent. No loyalty, perform or seek employment elsewhere. It sucks.

Never did like Sanders' obnoxious narcissistic persona in football, nor his entitled clown show in baseball. But, he will draw plenty of players who act like him or are willing to get molded in his image. I guess we will see how that works out for him. As for the outgoing players... welcome to professional football.

No, there is a reason Oregon State took us to the wood shed in the bowl game, besides apathy and loss of some key players. We were far more talented even with some weak spots than they were, but they had multiple seasons under their belt in a good system with good coaching. We will be better this season just because of the continuity from last year. One year transfers will be to fill in for emergencies mostly unless they prove incredibly advanced, of which there will be few, not a whole team's worth of players.

Proof is in the pudding as they say. One can't deny coach Sanders success at the previous level. But he just jumped unto a much bigger stage. Media hype and swagger only get you so far. I agree he was not exactly "welcoming" to his new players and it's not surprising to me at all that a whole slew of those guys took him up on his offer - leaving.

I don't think he is ahead of the curve at all. Does anyone really think that players haven't been getting nudged out the door at all major programs since the portal came into existence? No one seems to have a problem with loyalty when players jump in the portal but somehow it's 'despicable' when teams take advantage of the portal to improve their roster.

I like your logic. 1 or 2 is ok but 'dozens' isn't. How about 3 or 4? 5 or 6? What is an acceptable number for you?

Sanders will have issues when he starts publicly pushing out players that he recruited. It’s one thing to come into a program and alienate players and families that you had no connection with, made no promises to, etc… it will be different when it is a player he recruited, he sat in the living room and made promises to mom and dad and now that player isn’t quite good enough and Dieon needs the scholarship space.

Ok pal let me try and spell it out for you one last time:

Scenario 1) Kids get recruited, have a chance to try out for the team. They run drills, qualify, and get game time. Coaches evaluate the players, and in the off season some make next season’s 3-deep and others don’t. Those that don’t are advised to try the portal, or plan on limited playing time. Recruiting is targeted at the weaknesses.

Scenario 2) Kids get recruited, have a chance to try out for the team. New coach comes in, doesn’t bother to meet the players, doesn’t bother to learn their names, tells them they all suck — and they better pack their shit and head for the portal because he’s going to replace everybody with new kids who have yet to even play a down in the silver & gold.

See the difference? Which coaching staff would you want to play for? Which coaching staff would you want your kid playing for?

You didn’t answer my earlier question. All 85 on scholarship sucked?

Starts?? He already crossed that bridge. A kid that transferred from his previous school has already left. Mugharbil that came from us is leaving him also. All it would take is 5 minutes for a Colorado intern to find out that Mugharbil was injured and wouldn't play for UF. I can only imagine that Prime thought how good it would look to take a 4 star from UF, and how that would look like momentum for him, meanwhile messing with a kid's life. I have no respect for that.

Deion, like him or not, is crushing it in the portal right now. He’s gonna be a huge problem if he can win on the field like he did at Jackson State. Like many Gators, I want him to crash and burn, but it doesn’t look like a good bet currently. We can only hope his mouth gets him in trouble with the PTB, but that's wishful thinking.

There are a lot of guys out there who identify with a horse’s ass like Sanders. Let him take them all and see if it doesn’t end up like herding cats
