There is no common ground with gun nuts. Anything that makes it at all safer for the public is an affront to their right to mitigate their impotence. I applaud the effort though.

Russia’s invasion proved to be a tremendous miscalculation on their part, wouldn’t you say? And it’s my belief there is zero chance Ukraine would be standing today if Trump were re-elected. Trump outed himself (yet again) when he praised Putin’s invasion on day 1. Ukraine deserves the bulk of the credit for still standing (the Biden admin didn’t even believe it considering they offered to evacuate Zelensky early on). Ukrainians are the ones fighting and dying for freedom from Russian rule, nevertheless the Biden admin has been a shining example in how they have led on this (some say we should be doing more and providing more aid, then you have nutters saying we should pull our support and let Russia win). Seems to me they have handled Ukraine mostly right… giving Ukraine just what they need to hold on. I’d like to see us give enough to make Russian advances impossible.

I don’t think Iran aligning with Russia is surprising. Bad actors working together.

Brazil and China actually strengthened their relationship during Trumps trade war. You remember that, right? As a result of that trade spat Brazil replaced the U.S. as China’s #1 source of soybeans almost overnight, as U.S. soybean crops withered on the vine starting in 2018. Brazil and China is sort of like India and Russia, countries that are mostly friendly to U.S. and have strong trade with U.S. but also have economic ties to these adversaries, thus they are trying to remain neutral to the extent possible. It’s worth watching if Brazil’s president makes any other unfriendly moves, but seems so far he’s basically just trying to work both sides (as he should, provided China doesn’t do something in Taiwan which would demand Brazil “pick a side”).

Sad that their arguments have become so……..embarrassing. I kind of feel bad for them but they keep trying. It’s like that ant in that old song: Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
    Anyone knows an ant, can't

I agree that events would have been far different had Trump remained in office. He would have pulled a full Neville Chamberlain and appeased Russia. A Russian puppet would be residing in the presidential palace in Kyiv and Zelensky would either be dead, in exile or in a Russian penal colony and later down the road Ukraine would be reabsorbed into Russia ceasing to exist as an independent country much the way it was under the Soviet Union and under the Czarist Russian Empire and there is little doubt with the Baltic States and Moldova going next.

As far as Afghanistan is concerned, it was Biden's predecessor who reduced the number of US troops in the country necessary for an orderly withdrawal against the recommendation of his own generals. It was also the same guy who forced the then government of Afghanistan to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners including a number who were designated as terrorists and it was the same former president who denied the then government of Afghanistan a seat a the table when he was negotiating with the Taliban regarding the details of the US withdrawal.

Ah... the ole hammer rhetoric, redux.

Here's how guns and rocks differ:

    a. rocks are not created or designed with purpose of killing things
    b. guns are more lethal than rocks in that they may be used from a safer distance, at a higher frequency and with greater fatality probabilities.
    c. guns have a different supply and distribution chain than rocks, therefore have points of control

To imply hypocrisy for desiring control of one type of weapon and not all types is unfair. Particularly if the other types have different purposes and availability. Public safety measures are not a "all or none" proposition, but rather a nuanced challenge that balances individual rights with the need to protect society from preventable harm.

I watched Trump basically say this, and I imagined in my mind how most of the left on Too Hot would react to it. One of the best laughs I have gotten all week.

He'll be lucky to make it out of this year, since he announced for reelection.

He's Don of his own corrupt AF POS family.

He WAS a useful puppet for leftist forces well beyond his pay grade.

    He gone.

    He's becoming rather inconvenient.

    C'est la mort.

Well, while she could be proven right, statistically speaking she is wrong. He is expected to live around 9 more years.
