Who starts for the Gators in the circle tonight?

 

My guess would be Delbrey with a short leash.....wondering if Gigante is injured since she hasn't made an appearance in quite a while and Bender has been used.

 

Not much to choose from. Delbrey looked lost yesterday, EH has gotten lit up by UT and Trlicek can't go to long. I would not be suprised if it's an ugly RR.

 

May as well start Bender - maybe she can keep her old team in check for 3 innings and then we had it over to Trlicek to close it out.

 

Yeah, tonight sets up horribly.....on paper this one is a mismatch

 

Did ya'll notice that skinny blonde freshman pitcher for Tennessee throwing 74 mph!!?? She had control issues yesterday, but has pitched some good games for them this year. But that's harder throwing than Fouts.

 

Probably why control issues.. Fouts and Penta can hit 75 if want ,, they pitch at 68-71.. Havent seen SC P yet that hits 75,,but guessing similar,, control issues.

AU has FR Emma Rolfe in same range,, doesnt ever pitch for same reason..lol walks

 

Delbrey starting..........

 

The Tennessee girl's name is Karlyn Perkins. Despite the walks yesterday, that hasn't been a big issue for her this year for the most part. She's 8-4, with 20 appearances and 11 starts, 5 complete games. ERA is 1.96, 0.88 WHIP, 68 innings pitched, 78 K's and 26 BB, only 1 HR allowed and .143 batting average against. I was just impressed at her power for such a lithe thing. Would take her on our staff in a heartbeat.

And she's starting against us tonight.

 

Kistler not starting. Goelz in LF, Wilkie at 1st.

 

Yeah shes skinny..lot of arm whip i guess.. How tall? Fouts and Penta both 6'2" I believe. Common element for the 'flame throwers' usually.

Vols have luxury of not leaving their Ps in when struggling too, which helps.

 

6'1". She's shut out Ole Miss, Clemson and Texas A&M, plus threw a 1 hit shutout against LSU. She was a big time recruit who is living up to her billing. Extra Innings Softball had her as the #5 overall recruit and #2 pitcher in the 2022 class.

And she's the Vols #3 pitcher, which is where you want a freshman to be - not thrown in as your ace right off the bat like our 2 will be next year, more than likely.

 

yeah Ive seen her a few times. as i was saying Vols have options. Nice to choose spots to ease the Fr in during year. Instead of having to carry a team.
