I really hope one or both of our M&M QB’s have great seasons this year. A lot of that possibility depends on the development of our offensive line. If our QB play does reach a high degree of success, I’m anxious to see some of the comments by the certain GC posters who have so little faith in our QB room. We are all entitled to our opinion, but the time played and circumstances surrounding Miller simply doesn’t allow a good evaluation of his ability. Pretty much the same for Metz.
Agreed. I take some things away from the spring but overall, not much. I can't judge them (the QB's) until the END of the upcoming season because I think the 3 true freshmen and Burke and Douglas will have their struggles early in the season just cause they're still young (well not Burke, he "young" on PT) but as the season goes on and they get more adjusted, I think the passing game will get better. Same with the TE room
And how many, of this 6, will be STARTERS this season? Two? Pretty hard to recover from that big of a whiff of a class. And to think it was top 10. LOL.
How many expected starters entered the portal? 2 OL, 1 WR, 1 Edge, 1 Safety 5 of 22 is a fairly large percentage of starters to lose to the portal
Seems like a high percentage- but…seems like White isn’t playing / transferring due to injury. IF he has to stop playing football due to medical issues, transferring or not he likely wouldn’t be playing at UF this year either. In addition, from what I’ve read, Princely was moved to edge and was starting over Powell in the Spring. Which may (or may not) be influential in his decision to transfer. The other 3- all of them MAY have had the possibility of reduced roles even as starters in 2023. Tarquin lost time to Barber last year even when healthy and he may have seen or been told that Waites (now injured) was going to be in a competition for the RT spot. Travez split snaps with Perkins late last year along but may have been an entrenched starter this year though. Henderson? I imagine Henderson would have started. Would he see a reduced role with Jean and Mizell on the team? Don’t know. But…While 5 potential starters seem like a large number to lose, I imagine if you look at rosters / programs that have newer coaching staffs, the turnover is similar. All 5 of these players are prior coaching staff recruits and have little (Henderson with Gonzalez) to no tie to any of the new coaches.
How many of those starters are championship caliber? Sometimes the path to success is a zig zag line. Not being a hater here - I prefer that White, Tarq, and Powell were still on the team - I just don't think our overall roster was good, so I was hoping for a mass turnover to speed up the rebuilding process. My view is that I'd rather play younger guys with high ceilings than older guys who have reached their potential. That might result in growing pains in the short term, but the benefits outweigh that pain IMO.
Is princely gone? I know he had a great year but I would still selfishly love for him to come back. Dude just seems very fundamentally sound….would love to see him next to McCray/kelby
I guess I have to disable adblocking and tracking protection to view tweets… Oh well, just like this season
odom got passed by all 3 freshmen TE’s. This is not a loss on the field. On a human level, good luck to the young man!
Yes…very necessary to lose the guys who don’t play in order to bring others in. Think we are tight on numbers tbh
These days, being in the talent acquisition business means you're also in the talent disposition business.
