It’s obvious now that Napier knows UF is one more year away from being competitive again. After seeing Powell and Henderson hit the portal it looks like Napier’s first two recruiting classes will be the foundation with next class with Lagway being a difference maker. I’m behind Napier 100%. We just have to survive this season.
For all the hype about Henderson he never really lived up to his lofty status. I like the young Gator, but the truth is the truth. I wish him well, but it might just be time for him to move on. I mean 5 TDs in 3 years? Is that right? That can't be right. Maybe 5 TDs last year. But I do know he never got more than 1 TD in a game. Not many Gator receivers caught more than one TD in a game. Pearsall did... I still wish him well wherever he lands.
Yes sir . . . 5 TDs total. 1 TD in 2020 2 TDs in 2021 2 TDs in 2022 I hope he finds a new home in an air raid type offense and lights it up there.
With the recruiting classes you’ll have bringing in UF should be fine. This year could be pretty rough for you guys, but if UF can hang on to that class and get the NIL rolling then Billy should do well.
We still have a few spots of need and some depth to address. If we manage to get high quality players in those positions of need than I think we can be better than many sites and prognosticators think we will be. Especially if we get a world class receiver to replace Henderson. I know, that's one big "if." Give me a top notch QB and the rest will almost take care of itself... almost.
Apparently X had afterburners but no wiggle. I got so tired of that quick sideline pass for -2 yards.
I’m just getting anxiety from the ugly football I’m about to watch this fall. I’m picturing an offense that can’t move the ball and a defense that is constantly letting guys run wide open
We’ve got talented freshmen coming in at receiver and building for the future. When Lagway is ready, these freshmen will be in year three. Get em on the field now.
My biggest concern is our offensive line. I think we are in better shape at the skill positions than we have been in a few seasons. Also, I think we could see improvement at the QB position but, this year we won’t have a QB that can make plays with his athleticism. I do think Miller does possess a degree of escapism and seems to throw fairly well on the run. Which he may get a lot of practice at if we can’t piece together a solid offensive line. Our defense will be improved. Wait, that’s not saying much. I think our defense will be MUCH improved: that’s better. CBN did well in the portal and has two strong recruiting classes onboard, albeit much of that talent is inexperienced. Right now we are undefeated. Gotta start rolling.
I’m not so concerned about the record but it is IMPERATIVE that we get better as the season goes along. If we end up being inept at the end of 2023 like we were in 2022, it will be time to reevaluate.
Piersall had 5 TDs in one year versus 5 in 3 years for Henderson. Maybe the routes weren’t the difference?
I wonder about our line. The spring game has them split so we haven’t even seen them line up. We are missing four starters from last years decent line so we have to be concerned.
lol one thing is for sure, my lawn is going to look damn fine this fall with all the time I’m able to spend on it
