Am I correct in saying that our bullpen recorded exactly 3 outs and gave up 10 runs (I know one was technically Sproat's)?

Sully is always going to protect his pitchers arms. Sproat is possibly going to make millions and it's not worth destroying the kid's arm. Relief pitchers need to trust the defense and just throw strikes.

Pitchers that will transfer next year:

    Jameson
    Purnell
    Nesbitt
    Finnvold

    Unknown return:

    Ursitti
    Hartzog
    Abner
    Ficcarotta
    Coppola

    Pitchers signing pro:

    Sproat
    Waldrep

    Probables:

    Cags
    Slater
    Arroyo
    Fischer
    Neely
    Tejeda

Sully better find a ton of transfers as we will be even worse next season on the mound.

Sproat was in a groove and I am dead sure he wanted to finish the inning- he's out there to complete and win; the game was tied 3-3 and a chopper that gets by Halter, with two outs and bottom of the order with Sproat throwing well. Players at this level play to compete and win, especially a pivotal first game of a pivotal series on the road. You bring up millions--- If it comes down to his potential millions then I can't continue this conversation.
We're talking winning baseball games today when wearing a Gators uniform, not about millions in his future.

It was 3-3 with 2 outs in the 6th. Wow - that was the meltdown of all meltdowns.

By the way, thanks Gatorgal for the play-by-play!

Despite tonight's result, and all of the future problems it portends, this forum is still the best place on the internet! I guess all we can do is hope that the coaches can work with our bullpen, raise their confidence, and have them ready to give 'em hell tomorrow! They have to be talented guys, or they wouldn't be in their current roles at UF.

Bullpen, starters, it really doesn’t matter in the concept of executing a successful game plan. You want your pitchers attacking hitters by living in pitcher’s counts.

This game’s a helluva lot easier from the pitching standpoint working
0-2/1-2/2-2 counts rather than hitter’s counts like 2-0/3-0/3-1.

Command-Control-Confidence—they each strengthen the other and our guys need to set themselves up to succeed, not to fail.

How was that ump’s strike zone? I thought many of those balls should’ve been strikes.

I quit watching the game after we went down 3 and figured it was over, but that doesn't surprise me. I've read elsewhere that BT is a lighting rod waiting to go off on anyone who crosses him. Poor Nesbitt, in this case.

I think there are 11 pitchers in this year's recruiting class. Not sure how many will get drafted and go pro, but he's bringing in another big group for 2024.

Just my opinion but he gave the USCe pitchers a bigger zone above the belt and a litter outside on our RHH—but truthfully they were around the plate more so than our guys were. I thought he squeezed Sproat on the top side of zone. Sproat didn’t get anything above the belt to the letters.

I didn't watch the whole game but I thought it was inconsistent, in that it seemed to move around quite a bit. At the same time I think he was fair in that he did it to both teams.

Of course once we got into the bullpen poor BT looked like a hockey goalie half the time.
