Yes. Because his runner that scored put them ahead and unless SC relinquishes the lead Sproat is the pitcher of record. Here's a copy of paste of the NCAA rules. Same rules that apply to MLB.

d. The starting pitcher shall be charged with the loss if he is replaced at any time while his team is behind and remains behind for the remainder of the game. Similarly, any relief pitcher who is the pitcher of record when the opposing team assumes the lead and never relinquishes it is charged with the loss.

Note: The pitcher of record shall be the one who is in the game at the time the winning team gains the lead, provided that the lead never is relinquished, or the one who is charged with the runs by which the opposing team takes the lead, provided that the lead never is relinquished.

Sproat should have gone 6 and maybe more... He was in a groove. Stunned that he would get the hook after a chopper past third after he had mowed down 7 straight and our Pen is down the top man... and it was bottom of the order coming up. Just terrible game management by Sully. Meltdown before our eyes.

I keep hoping that when our pitcher looks at his wristband it says "throw a f'n strike!"

 

SC is good. Hoping we don’t get swept. Not too down on this team. But playing #6 on the road without your best bullpen guy is going to be tough.

 

Tough to get over this one. Bullpen and defense faltered. A gut check game tomorrow.

 

BT was in Nesbitt's face in that mound visit. Something tells me this isn't his first issue with him.
