how much cash can Fox pay out before they are no longer viable? Can they discharge the judgements through bankruptcy? will smartmatic accept the same as Dominion? Another $250M or so for the fired producer. Pushing $2B in cash. Can Fox do that and stay in business? and will the Murdoch family be held personally liable when the shareholders sue them? is there insurance for these sort of settlements? We can hope. But nature abhors a vacuum, and so far each right wing propagandist shut down has only spawned a worse version. E.g. Bill O'Reilly > Tucker Carlson.
NPR legal consultants today suggest Smartmatics 2.7 billon case is even stronger than Dominions. I hope that's true.
I doubt BK would be on the table, saw someone on financial network claiming they had $4 Billion cash and cash equivalents. I’m sure that can be verified if someone cares to check their last quarterly. Of course, the entire market cap of the company is $10 billion so these suits will add up. They are material numbers, but not company enders. With Murdock also being worth more than that personally (est $21 Billion) there would be alot of backstops before a bankruptcy. That’s a good thing for the victims of Fox who want to get paid.
I read that the newspaper suit for hacking phones/voicemails in the UK was over $1.2B in charges by 2020 and was still going up.
Paraphrasing a commentator, I believe it was Andrew Weissmann, the lawsuit isn't going to deter Fox News from running fake stories, what it will do is deter Fox and implicitly other media outlets from running fake stories when the party damaged is a potential plaintiff with deep pockets including the resources to retain topflight legal representation as well as to wait out the delaying procedural stunts that Fox or a similar media defendant could employ.
Problem is, now that Fox has shown to be big pocketed on these (this may have been the largest defamation settlement in history), there will be lawyers willing to wait them out on even smaller cases.

Dominion still has a suit against him too. it’s amazing how every single person who loudly aligns themselves with Trump end up ruined, but the orange one still walks free.
