Gators need to keep hitting like they did in the bottom of the 7th-UT's top 2 pitchers have ERAs of .75 and 1.29. Every pitcher on their staff is below 2.00.
I didn't say we feared them, just we will have a very slim chance of beating any of them at their field. As respects Kenny and OSU, check our last 3 game results in the CWS against them I believe if memory serves me, we were run ruled each game. UCLA run ruled us this year and the last time we played them in the CWS, as memory serves me. Finally, NO ONE wants OU at their place. They are virtually unbeatable there for the last 8 years.
I had to google it lol. Not like I have it marked on the calendar. Anyways I’m just positive about the upcoming postseason!
RPI question: If Florida lost all three games to Tennessee and all three games were very close, would that effect the RPI any differently than if they were destroyed in all three games.
Check out Katelynn Oxley. She is a 2024 Florida commitment , plays for Bartow and #20 on Max Preps. Her first five games she pitched her sophomore year were no hitters Finished the season with a .10 RRA and struck out 337 batters in 140 innings. Remarkable.
The last 3 matchups with OSU: 2017 W 5-0 Gainesville 2019 L 1-2 WCWS Samantha Show 2 solo home runs same place same pitch 2020 L 0-2 WCWS Julia Cotrill drove in a run and scored a run Not as dire as remembered.
Her stats this year have skyrocketed. Her ERA has gone up to 0.37 and only struck out 110 batters in 60 innings pitched.
I was about to post the same...and we might win that game last season if Cotrill doesn't go to play one season for her dad. Had 2 on in the 6th and one in the 7th. 2019 game, Barnhill throws a 2 hitter complete game....both hits gopher balls to Show. Show throws a 6 hitter complete game....she bascally won the game single handed.
As the #20 recruit in the 2024 class by MaxPreps, Oxley might be flying under the radar a little bit, IMO. We, also, have commitments from Layla Lamar, infielder from Cary, NC, who is ranked #5 in the 2024 class by Perfect Game and #4 by MaxPreps. And Townson Thomas, an outfielder from Texas who is ranked in a tie for #2 in the 2024 class by Extra Elite and #16 by MaxPreps. Here's a link to an article on Thomas: Throwback Thursday: New Florida Commit & No. 2-Ranked 2024 Outfielder Townsen Thomas... The flyer below invites you to a celebration of Kinsey Goelz's career and several milestones. As several of you know, I am a big Kinsey fan. I met her at my church in 2019 when the softball team came to sort and pack food for our 1200 Thanksgiving baskets. Even though she has not played a lot, she is a mainstay for the team. She is the biggest encourager, confident, and fan. She and Bryn Thomas have been valuable teammates. I hope you will drop by and congratulate her. This is next Friday after the Ole Miss game. All are welcome.
Thanks for the really good post ocalaman. Very informative. I think the piece we are missing is a lock-down pitcher, but I think that is harder to find nowadays because these kids start hitting softballs about the time they learn to walk and the training has advanced to a very high level.
Sometimes our incoming pitchers from high school have had weaker senior seasons. Not this time! Our two 2023 incoming pitcher recruits are doing fantastic. Per Maxpreps, the latest stats this season through yesterday were: Ava Brown - ERA 0.49, W-L 16-0, IP 99, SO 184, H 38, BB 15 Keagan Rothrock - ERA 0.35, W-L 5-0, IP 40, SO 79, H 18, BB 11 (Keagan’s season up in Indiana just started) With Oxley a year after that, our pitching could be something special.
And let us not forget we have SS Gabrielle Comia committed in the 24 class as well and she is very highly rated too. Let me share this link to those who haven’t seen it. Sophmores starting SS and 3B are Gators. Juniors SP, SS, LF, DP are all also Gators. Let’s freaking go!
And I think it was you who clued us in on -- Kaylia Pollard appears to have a back issue. She hasn't played since the Arkansas series. So if she's healthy next year..... https://tinyurl.com/55e9nrsa
Cassidy McClellan....Extra Innings National Player of the Week. Given the other kids coming in this September, there is a tendency to overlook Cass. Big mistake. National High School Player of the Week (Apr. 11, 2023) - Extra Inning Softball
