You were most certainly the first to complain before lobbing off your own.
If you don't like being the recipient of insults, stop insulting others. Toughen your skin. Don't escalate the animosity by returning an insult if one is first directed towards you. Learn to ignore them.

Your argument: "The IRS targeting conservative groups proves the Democrats are authoritarians."
My argument: "No, it doesn't because the IRS also targeted progressive groups too."
Your response: "But they targeted conservatives more! Look, the Republicans in the House said so."
My response: "It is irrelevant to the claim you made which group they targeted MORE. The fact that they targeted both sides shows improper conduct, but it also shows that it was not some authoritarian attack on the Republican Party."

    Impressive how you missed that.

And as I recall not a single conservative group was denied tax exempt status while at least one liberal group was.

New Board may not have authority to change utility rates. What a tangled knotted mess. Somewhere in FL today a child was born that will grow up to work as a lawyer in this case.

Florida board says it discovers another '11th hour' agreement with Disney — Reuters

Reuters) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ new oversight board has discovered another “11th hour agreement” that allows Walt Disney Co to set its own utility rates at its Orlando theme parks, the board’s chairman said on Wednesday.

A Disney subsidiary, which provides utility services to the central Florida district that includes the Walt Disney World Resort, negotiated an agreement in February to extend its contract through 2032, Chairman Martin Garcia said at a public meeting. Disney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Interesting that this “11th hour deal” is seen as problematic for so-called conservatives.

If Disney owns the utility that feeds the park, who else does Comrade Ron think should be setting rates? The govt? Puhleaze.

I didn't know they provided their own power. They used to buy cheaper power from TECO, which was cheaper because it was coal generated, which was its own scandal. The old days when we found all kinds of reasons not to like Disney, when they were the bully.

This was the famous marker, which my daughter always enjoyed spotting first when she was little and we were driving over.

I don't know how that fits into these facts

But seriously, how do they not figure all this out before they make public announcements? They keep looking foolish. It's almost like no one did the due diligence on the records before they announced their strategies. At a minimum, if they were going to announce these measures, they should have reached out to the utility, who would have been compelled to respond to them, to ask about current agreements.

This is just basic competence. If you're going to announce setting utility rates as retaliatory strategy, you need to figure out the current legal situation. Unless it comes out that they were refused the information or it was somehow not discoverable, this really reflects total incompetence and stupidity in this group.

And if it ever does get to a legal challenge, notwithstanding the judge's sympathies towards DeSantis, this is the kind of stuff that will factor into the way it is viewed and moved upon.

It was implied in my original argument that they targeted conservative groups MORE. Otherwise, there's no prejudice.

And it sure as heck matters.

Your argument is akin to: “policing of Black people in America is not authoritarian because they police White people too.”

Your original argument (that it is proof of authoritarian behavior by the Democrats) failed a long time ago. The IRS targeted both left- and right-wing groups. All you've shown is that it acted improperly. Nobody disagrees.

What you have not and cannot prove is that it was some government conspiracy from the Democrats aimed at punishing Republicans for their political speech. The facts demonstrate otherwise.

So if they ONLY target conservative groups, it IS authoritarian, but say they target conservative groups 95% of the time, and liberal groups 5% of the time, it’s not authoritarian?

    Brilliant stuff.

The IRS didn't target right-wing groups 95% of the time, so your argument fails.

Haha. That's not what you said though. You said the proportionality doesn't matter because they targeted progressive groups too.

I didn't say that. We're discussing a specific example of improper behavior by the IRS. I refuted your claim that it is proof of authoritarianism. You don't get to fabricate new facts because your case is a loser. Hold your L.

No, I'm just trying to see where exactly you draw the authoritarianism line because you seem to be avoiding answering whether 95% would be authoritarianism, which tells me deep down you know it is.

Which begs the question, "at what point does it become authoritarianism."

Forgive me, but I don't trust liars at their word to draw lines.

Perfect. There's no need for me to address your irrelevant hypo since you believe I'm a liar and don't trust me to draw the line anyways. But since you've clearly given up on defending your original position, we can call it a day.
