Apparently, he won’t transfer to Southern Cal after all. Lots of talk circulating around the circumstances that he left Florida including the idea that he is injured and pondering his football future, but unless something changes here he won't be coming back. [Edited]
Well it wouldn't hurt if whatever caused the departure could be resolved and dosent rock the boat with the current roster. Kid was a big contributer. Besides, we need depth if not a starter quality player.
I have to be honest, I support Sark's position on the matter. If you enter the portal, you're gonl. It shouldn't be a place to test the waters or a threat that every kid can hang over a coach's head. If you make the decision, make it and deal with it. I'd love to have him back, too, because it is a position of need. But I think it sets a bad precedent. Portal = off the team.
Southern Cal was a long way from momma. The transfer (commitment) to USCw was likely because of Tarquin & Boselli. I heard some rumblings that they were not too fond of the new UF OL coach. Desire/drive for the game is apparently an issue now. He has deleted his Twit account, fwiw.
Weird that he didn’t show up for spring practice wherever he’s planning to go. Hard pass on coming back here after this much time.
Starting to look like another case of endlessly searching for the perfect situation instead of battling through personal commitments and finishing what was started. Bad life lessons.
I get those that say once you quit and transfer.......you quit. In the old days that was it, barring extraordinary circumstances. But this ain't the old days. UF and every other program would GLADLY take back a 5 star / high 4 star, HS commit, de-commit, re-commit and yall know that. No need to mention names either. It's the new world of NIL and the Portal. While this is not that exact situation it's not far from it. Just saying....
Water under the bridge in today's world...I'd take him back and keep an eye on him, so long as his presence in the locker room is fine.
I’d take him back and plug him at LG until we’re healthy then shift em to RG over Leonard doubt he comes back though. Slim to none
Recruiting and money is like that, but once you’re on the team and play for the team, you don’t get that benefit of the doubt anymore if you leave.
Totally bizarre that he and (the tackle?) left, never had any impression they weren't happy at UF and both slated to start next year. Guess they either didn't care for Napier and staff, or wanted to have a chance at playing for a championship in their last season. Weird, but yeah the momma's comments don't lead me to believe he'll be back.
I don't think there was any guarantee Tarquin was starting this year if he didn't transfer. Tackles are going to have to be plus run blockers this year, which Tarquin wasn't. I agree with Bobby that White would continue to be behind Mazzcua and ahead of Richie.
