I think Christina Pushaw is the brains of the operation. She has a system of engineering an endless string of staged photo ops where he stands in front of a podium with some dumb slogan on it, is flanked by loyalists who smile, and he flails his hands around while he talks for a few minutes. It looks great on the news. He's always "doing something". But he has no understanding of the people game and cannot make deals or get important people on his side.

But he seems to actually believe it

I don't know - Schorsch has pointed out that she seems on the outs at times. Not sure If I can find the tweet. I'll see

I can't find the tweet. It was during the last campaign DeSantis won by a blowout. She was somehow outside where you would expect if she was a trusted advisor, but I don't recall details

Also, a big part of DeSantis' message and appeal has been that he doesn't just talk the talk but knows how to use the levers of government to get things done. Trump doesn't respond well to criticism either, of course. But I'm not sure Trump would have let things get to a full scale war. He might have called Mickey and Minnie dirty, filthy, rats and claimed victory when Disney fired the prior CEO (whether his dismissal was related or not).

But when he has a supermajority of his party in legislature, he can do whatever he wants and they will not challenge him.

Personally, I think the fragile ego and willingness to abuse power for personal vendettas are very much core personality traits.

I would assume most people who have embraced right-wing politics do (though there are different flavors and obsessions), I dont think they are putting on a show.

Probably, but the stuff is so obviously wrong, it seems almost insulting to his intelligence to think he actually believes it

2 years ago he was at UF’s campus praising our ascension into the top 5 publics, praising the state system, funding us at a high clip and not a word about culture wars. Now UF and the whole higher Ed system is a punching bag for him. It’s clearly contrived. Which makes it all the more disappointing.

His political appointees were also pushing DEI a few years ago before it became THE DEVIL!

Using an analogy the chances of the Republican supermajority in the Florida state legislature challenging DeSantis on any issue is roughly the same as the Chinese Communist Party challenging Xi Jinping or the Russian Duma challenging Vladimir Putin.

It’s almost as if there’s equal opportunity admission policies for moronic GOP’s at Ivy League schools. No way these bozos get in and graduate by themselves.

I have been saying this for months. RD arrogance and the fact that he is the pick of the GOP (Rove, Murdoch, J. Bush & McConnell) killed this thing before it got started. MAGA sees right through it. Haley & FatBoy are next. No need to go after Pence.

FatBoy? I thought that he was leading in virtually every poll.

At any given time there are as many as four DeSantis threads on a single page. It’s like Trump was evicted and DeSantis is now squatting in the liberal’s heads.
