The drama. Why not? Or I guess I should ask what hopes you are talking about? National championship hopes? Sec championship hopes? Being competitive and winning 10 hopes? Having a fun season hopes? my hopes will be up.
I’ll be watching and hoping for positive results. The Utah win last year, I was on the 50 and it was great.
She's wrong.. We need a proven ONE AND DONE QB that has started and has played very well throughout his college career. We do not need someone that has never started in college... we need a one and done because we have our 2024 prodigy that will be competing to start against the QB's that we already have on our team for the following season. We don't need Lagway having to compete against that said experienced and good QB that hypothetically has been our last year's starter, that also happens to have 2 or 3 more years of eligibility. That's why we need a one and done plug and play QB out of the portal. A one year QB that has the skills we need to put our team on the right track during this QB transition. So, for me, I think we need a good/great skilled one and done QB from the transfer portal. By then then maybe Miller, Mertz or Brown can compete against Lagway for QB1 in 2024.
Lagway hopefully doesn’t have to even think about playing as a true freshman. We could use a two year starter realistically. The problem is why would a top qb come here when potential playoff teams are calling.
True, but then if he is as good as advertised, and is good enough to start, what then? What do we do with the other new QB1 if he lights it up this coming year and he have one more year after that? More, great talent, is better, but is it the right thing to do? It certainly is for our team and our coaching staff, but how is that good for Lagway? Yes, Iron sharpens iron, I get that, and competition is always what's best for our team. So it makes going after proven QB1 with 2 more years of eligibility something that the coaches and Lagway should be on the same page with. Are we going to win at all cost like UGA... burning though talented QBs because of their coach's shortsightedness? Or are we going to win it all with dignity? I think the easiest solution is to go and get that great ONE AND DONE QB1 from the portal. And if Miller, Mertz, Brown and Lagway don't look like they will be ready to start next year then we can then get another ONE AND DONE from the portal. But a 2 year QB1 from the portal right now is not needed, IMHO.
A one year starter would force lagway to start as a true freshman and I think that is a very bad idea. It is extremely rare for any quarterback to be ready as a true freshman.
So, you think we should get a proven portal QB1 with two years of eligibility? And that's okay? I'm not saying that's bad idea, but I think we're stacking QB's for the future... so how will that work into the coach's plan. I have to wonder which direction Napier will take. Will he stick to the plan that he has going or will he alter it and just get as many good/great QBs as he can get and end up looking like what UGA did, and continues to do, to this stable of QBs. I mean, you can't argue with the results but do we need to use that pump and dump plan that UGA used to get to the top. Is there a better way/plan? I say yes there is... one and done for me.
Absolutely , but who wants to come here and try to win eight games. There are probably more attractive offers out there. We aren’t exactly a hot commodity right now.
Well, if neither Mertz nor Miller are good enough to play this season, it’s doubtful they’d be much better in 2024. Our 1 & done QB from the portal would be gone, and that would pretty much force Lagway into some form of action as a true freshman. That to me is a situation that should be avoided
