I agree but considering the MSM posts thousands of articles every year and then plasters story after story after story every day, 365 days a year, they actually are complicit for creating that fear. But fear sells papers, in this case, ad revenue when you visit their sites or watch their channel. But this guy is 85 and we don't know his circumstances. He may have been attacked previously or had his home invaded, we don't know that because the MSM doesn't put that in their storyline. This kid looks meek to me so I doubt I would have just shot at him through my door but I would be on alert because we don't get many visitors, especially at night.

You basically confirm the issue - the default mode of many who think it makes sense that any time somebody is perceived to be unsafe it’s ok for them to kill the other party. If people have guns, they are more likely to use them, even when they don’t have to, and sometimes the results are catastrophic.

No I don't. The issue with people is they put their feet into one person's shoes. Do you know what it's like to be 85? How old are you? I'm 57 and I think I would have handled the situation far differently, because I can. I can disarm most people without a gun (outside of Jackie Chan showing up, then I'll just ask for his autograph and give him a tour of my house), but will I be able to defend myself at 85? And what if I was already a victim of a home invasion? Like I said, we don't know those circumstances. Now I will say what ends up getting this man convicted wasn't that he shot through his door the 1st time, it was his 2nd shot when he opened his door and fired at him again. Stand Your Ground provides defense of your home but not end someone's life who is already incapacitated. The 2nd shot is where he crossed the line.
I’m sorry but if the young man was not forcibly trying to enter the man’s home or threatening him verbally on the other side of the door then how is shooting through the glass “standing your ground?” You telling me I could shoot the next delivery guy who comes up to my door through the glass and I’m good because I didn’t recognize them?
