Yep. Doesn't mean it won't be denied. It always is.

So .... where and how did you develop this "face reading" expertise? Was it an on-line course??

I agree but considering the MSM posts thousands of articles every year and then plasters story after story after story every day, 365 days a year, they actually are complicit for creating that fear. But fear sells papers, in this case, ad revenue when you visit their sites or watch their channel. But this guy is 85 and we don't know his circumstances. He may have been attacked previously or had his home invaded, we don't know that because the MSM doesn't put that in their storyline. This kid looks meek to me so I doubt I would have just shot at him through my door but I would be on alert because we don't get many visitors, especially at night.

Asking a question about your tremendous skill .... does not indicate it is a focus on my part. But, it's interesting that you deflect and refuse to answer the query.

Comment on the topic and recent developments of this tragic story and then maybe I’ll answer your irrelevant query.

This isn't a SYG case, there is never a duty to retreat in one's home. It's an unauthorized use of deadly force case.

You basically confirm the issue - the default mode of many who think it makes sense that any time somebody is perceived to be unsafe it’s ok for them to kill the other party.

If people have guns, they are more likely to use them, even when they don’t have to, and sometimes the results are catastrophic.

I think it’s time to put it on the gun owners. How would you stop this gun violence? I owned a gun for a long time for self defense. When my sons got into the high single digits I gave it to a childless friend. My reasoning was my kids could and would get into everything. I knew that the gun was more of a danger to them than protection for me. So it was an easy decision get the gun away from my kids.

‘Stand your ground’: the US laws linked to rising deaths and racist violence

An analysis last year found “stand your ground” laws were linked to an 8% to 11% increase in homicide rates, or roughly 700 additional deaths each year. Florida’s “stand your ground” law has increased both justifiable and unlawful killings, with one study finding a 32% increase in firearm homicide rates; and another analysis showed that in 79% of cases, the assailant could have retreated to avoid confrontation. And research on “stand your ground” laws has found huge racial disparities, with white Americans much more likely to find success with self-defense claims, particularly when they kill Black people.

“We have so much data showing these laws do not make us safer. And in fact, they authorize so much unnecessary violence that disproportionately harms Black and brown people,” said Caroline Light, Harvard senior lecturer and expert on “stand your ground” laws.

Robert Spitzer, political science professor emeritus at the State University of New York, Cortland, noted that “stand your ground” laws discourage prosecution and impede investigations into homicides, which is why some law enforcement leaders oppose them: “The laws are written in a way that quite clearly provides for the prospect of legalized murder. And it actually encourages people to make sure their opponents are dead so that they cannot make a counter ‘stand your ground’ claim.”

The laws have also contributed to an increasingly violent culture, added Kenneth Nunn, law professor emeritus at the University of Florida: “The presence of a ‘stand your ground’ law in the public’s mind generally means, all you have to say is, ‘I was in fear for my life’, and no charges will be brought, and I think a lot of police officers tend to believe that, too.”

No I don't. The issue with people is they put their feet into one person's shoes. Do you know what it's like to be 85? How old are you? I'm 57 and I think I would have handled the situation far differently, because I can. I can disarm most people without a gun (outside of Jackie Chan showing up, then I'll just ask for his autograph and give him a tour of my house), but will I be able to defend myself at 85? And what if I was already a victim of a home invasion? Like I said, we don't know those circumstances.

Now I will say what ends up getting this man convicted wasn't that he shot through his door the 1st time, it was his 2nd shot when he opened his door and fired at him again. Stand Your Ground provides defense of your home but not end someone's life who is already incapacitated. The 2nd shot is where he crossed the line.

I’m sorry but if the young man was not forcibly trying to enter the man’s home or threatening him verbally on the other side of the door then how is shooting through the glass “standing your ground?”

You telling me I could shoot the next delivery guy who comes up to my door through the glass and I’m good because I didn’t recognize them? Cmon.

Here you go ........ the "good guys" part of the story:

    >>James Lynch was the neighbor who found Yarl. Lynch didn’t immediately respond to an interview request but his wife, Tiffany, in a brief interview, confirmed an NBC News report that said Lynch heard shouting and saw Yarl banging on the door of another home.

“I heard somebody screaming, ‘Help, help, I’ve been shot!’” Lynch, who is white, told NBC. The father of three ran out and found Yarl covered in blood. Lynch checked his pulse and, when another neighbor came out with towels, helped stem the bleeding until paramedics arrived.

“He just wants the family to know that Ralph wasn’t alone,” Tiffany Lynch said, adding that the action was typical of her husband.

“He helps out anyone he can and always has,” she said.<<
