We will all make that walk through the corn one day, my Gator friend. Maybe we can all meet up in someone’s Swamp one day and play for the ole ball coach. Build it and we will come…

    Sounds fun….

Well, I’m right back to what I posted in my opening post here. I had been home for maybe some 10 days or so and with my walking cane I could get around a little bit. Then last Tuesday evening I was going through some mail. So I sat down and wrote a check out etc for a bill. Got up from where I was sitting and trying to take a step but I couldn’t. Had no strength or feelings in my legs. Wasn’t easy but I was able to get to my phone and call 911, then my younger brother. So I got an ambulance ride and took me to Lakeland Regional Hospital. After various testing I was told I had a UTI. Taking some meds for it. Slowly, I’ve been able to get a little leg strength back and can walk a little bit with a walker. Tomorrow, what a special day it was to be for me once a year, I’m probably being transferred to a rehab facility for a couple of weeks or so. What a year 2023 has been so far for me. About the same thing 3 times over. Crazy year so far for me. Will see what happens this time. Hopefully things will be different and improvement finally here. Hope so.

    Good evening Ray Gator......

Good to hear your report although I'm not very happy with the situation you find yourself in. Please remember that you are not alone in your fight.

I don't know your brother, but all things being equal having a brother you can rely on for help is significant. Not everyone does. Many don't have any family members they can rely on for help.

That said, I'd like to think we are your family and are here for you, if you need us.

Regarding the possible UTI, in no way am I qualified to provide medical recommendations for you, but will tell you that in some situations where UTI's are a concern, there is an approach called prophylaxis, which essentially means preventative, where you take a daily dose of antibiotic....usually half what you would normally be prescribed when a urine analysis reveals you have one.

Might be worth discussing with your physician.

I truly hope you are able to get this figured out. Never give up and keep fightin' my brother. Lot of prayers being sent up for ya!!! :emoji_pray:

    With much love....your friend,
    Bazza

Yeah, UTI's are no fun! My mom had them all the time. I had one years ago. They can be pretty debilitating, for sure.

Usually they test your pee. Then they take some urine to do a culture with to determine what bacteria is the culprit. Then they'll give you the necessary specific antibiotics for treatment. Sometimes they scope you too. This info is from the Mayo Clinic.

We gotta get you stabilized so you can watch or listen to the Spring game.

Ray, we're all pulling and praying for you. Blessings Gator.

    Go Gators.:)

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Been suffering in a lot of pain lately. A lot.
God must want me to suffer for not not being a better person. Been in the hospital 3 different times and rehab 3 different times.

    Hi Ray....

I would have rated your post with "sad" - but we don't have that option, sadly.

So I gave it a "friendly".

You remain in our thoughts and prayers, my brother.

I know every situation is different, but in my Mom's recent situation, we actually had Hospice take over while she was still recovering in the hospital and it really helped. We didn't think they were doing what she needed, at that point in her recovery. Hospice can do a lot that a hospital can't and it is also much different than a rehab facility - in general - provides mostly comfort and pain relief.

There's a misconception that hospice is only for end of life scenarios, but it isn't.

Mom stayed in the local Hospice care facility for about 5 full days before we moved her into a small 6 bed assisted living place here. Thanks to the care she received at the Hospice facility and now at the ALF she's been at for just over 2 weeks, her health and vigor has returned in a dramatic fashion.

Medicare covered the Hospital and Hospice care and we are paying for the ALF ourselves. It's not cheap but considering what is involved, it's well worth it.

Every situation is different and what I just shared may not be applicable to your situation, but thought I'd share just in case.

Please keep us posted if there's anything we can do for you. That includes a PM to me, if it helps.

    Love you man......
