I'm the end? Nothing. Birtherism was the trial run on election denialism. The political right showed that a significant chunk of their audience was willing to believe absolutely absurd lies that didn't even have a modicum of logic behind them if they helped them deal with cognitive dissonance and make sense of the world not being how they think it is. The arguments don't have to make sense. They just have to make Trump people feel better about the country that they love that also rejected their politics.
