Why do researchers use rates when comparing groups of different sizes?

Why do researchers posit rates of unicorn dander infections ?

And some people can't have an intelligent discussion.

During the early parts of a pandemic with a novel pathogen, is it smart or stupid to follow best Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions that have worked in the past?

How do you deal with teachers that flat out refuse to return to the classroom? And wouldn't having less qualified teachers also effect the quality of education for the kids?

Should we ignore all the studies that showed early on, closing schools did reduce COVID transmission and death rates? Or, should we have a rational discussion and continue the research to figure out exactly what did happen? What worked? What didn't? Etc.?

These are the questions I raised. Thoughtful questions that should spark debate. The answer I got? I'm a grifter and stupid. Maybe I should fight fire with fire...I KNOW YOU ARE! BUT WHAT AM I?

Thoughtful question (for both sides) that should spark debate: where is there any evidence, for any virus, such that we should be quarreling about vaccine efficacy, rather than centering solely on vaccine harms ?

I claimed that the shots likely provided a small therapeutic help. The benefit never reached a point to authorize for low risk groups. Especially with safety signals. And even more so today based on what we know.

The column “Count of Deaths” is what I was using…

Florida has the third highest number of covid deaths in the US. Why would this not be a valid statistic for proving DeSantis is one of the worst governors in the US?

LOL. What is the 3rd most populous state? Which large state has the highest percentage of elderly? Think those things might factor into that number? Was there a reason you left out when adjusting for age? Maybe because that makes DeSantis look like he did a pretty good job?

What safety signals? 5.5 billion jabs and there is zero correlation between excess deaths and vaccination rates. If there is no correlation, there can be no causation. Here's a link from the UK explaining why they saw excess deaths in 2022. The reasons are there were still COVID deaths, as well as an uptick in other deaths that require medical intervention that because of the pandemic, people either received late, or not at all. But the vaccine? Not a cause at all. From the article:

Finally, figures up to June 2022 looking at deaths from all causes show unvaccinated people were more likely to die than vaccinated people.
Meanwhile, all data shows at all age cohorts 12 and older, the vaccine lowers risk of severe COVID.

This chart shows age adjusted COVID deaths, per capita by state.

Florida did about average. I think doing a chart by poverty level per state might also be informative, as lower class people live in higher occupancy homes, and we know COVID transmission is high among a household.

Do you agree that QGator is incorrect in using counts to compare groups of different sizes?

I’m pretty sure Q gets all of his “data” and ability to interpret so called “data” from the conspiracy Reddit page. Literally every anti-vax post on that subreddit reads like his posts on here, lol. Complete nutters.

They are being covered up. There is so much smoke with how this has been handled and the ignoring of medicine and science. That said…you know the safety signals. And we are now seeing the excess deaths.

What a bunch of bull. There is no correlation, anywhere on the planet, between excess deaths and vaccination rates. If there were causation, wouldn't places with a higher vaccination rate see a higher excess death rate? Simply put, there is no correlation, at all, showing this. So how can there be causation?

Covering it up? Now we are in conspiracy theory rabbit hole crap. Where are they covering up the information? In the basement of a pizza parlor in a building that has never had a basement in its existence?

5.5 billion jabs, all across the entire globe, and not a single case of correlation that shows more vaccine equals more excess deaths. But it's all a giant cover-up!:confused:

Unfortunately researches used rates to push a narrative and a new drug on an entire population when a large portion of the population was at little to no risk. Now we have excess deaths like we have never seen and no one is asking the questions…Covid/Shot/Shot and/or Covid.

The data showed that young healthy people did not need a new drug. But Big Pharma and the idiots in public health scared the crap out of people like you.

I will continue to do me, which is follow the data and suggestions of medical professionals with far more education and knowledge than I will ever have in these areas. I'll also continue to point out the idiots who don't understand data science, medical science, and believe there are "safety signals" in a vaccine with 5.5 billion world-wide jabs, and not a single case of correlation between the vaccine and excess deaths.

I'm asking why you are painting FL in the worst possible light concerning covid and not using the easily accessible Covid data with age factored in? I know your hate of DeSantis and the bias is pretty clear to me.
