I wish I could find it, but someone on Reddit a while back did an analysis of the ranking bias of Georgia high school recruits and UGA's targets before/after Chad Simmons was promoted to his previous position (before he moved to ON3) and the huge jumps they received in those rankings as a result of his bias.
This was from classes 2016-2017ish early in Kirby's tenure. Most of those kids weren't even with the program for natty's. The TLDR version was he was pumping up instate GA kids that were going to UGA, so that the final class rankings were elevated. Eventually, UGA started pulling more out of state kids and studs, but he was pumping rankings hard for kids who committed to them.
Soooo...do you start working with him to change that odd side arm throwing motion or leave him alone ala Tebow? My preference would be the latter, since he appears to be quite accurate.
You're right on the longer throws he seems to go with a much more overhead delivery. He throws a very tebow-esque ball and that hopefully portends good things!
All this from a 5 min clip? Maybe he throws sidearm because at that height the flatter throws can be controlled…I wouldn’t rush to judgement here
