Yeah? What could you judge from the spring game when Lawrence Wright and Travis McGriff were catching TD's....in the 2018 spring game? What, exactly, did Wright and McGriff contribute to our 2018 season? The spring game is nothing more than a goofy scrimmage. It's light entertainment for the fans/recruits, and practice reps for the players. Nothing more. Some of you chicken littles need a reality check.
I’m confused, assume your dates are wrong since they weren’t football players for Uf in 2018 unless I’m missing something.
Sure, but context matters. Depleted O-line, aggressive defense, touch the QB for a sack. I'm not even saying we have an offense, I'm just saying it's impossible to tell from a spring game. 2018 is correct. Mullen wanted to goof around and give the fans a shot of nostalgia, so they included some of our legends in the game for a play here and there. Just an example of why the spring game is nothing to take seriously.
I actually made it into town for an event and caught the Orange and Blue game the night I flew in. It was fabulous being in the Swamp. When I first got there the place was pretty full. But people were coming and going. Some people that were leaving said there was no offense happening. I think that's why the crowd was all over the place. I'd have to agree with the observation. I thought a few of the new guys were balling our rather nicely. The defense did look pretty stout and the running backs and recievers looked good. The QB's looked Okay to me. Not great. With an intact Offensive line we should improve a bit from last year; hopefully. That's assuming the defense is better. If Napier can snag a QB, that would be huge. The 2024 class is gaining momentum, but it's too early to tell about 2023. I'm holding out hope, although, one of the QB's has to break out. if not, we're gonna have to rely on the running game and the defense. Someone mentioned the punters. I saw a couple of kicks that were ridiculously good. I mean rocket launcher good. That gives me some hope too. Go Gators.
Good ole Mal...reasonable and positive as always. Thanks for the insight for those of us who couldn't make it to the game.
