I don't know if he was ever "moderate," but he's definitely pushed his line farther to the right recently, which I think was a mistake. His record from his first term alone, made him a conservative icon in the country. He didn't need to keep going, but it seems like he let the noise from some other Republicans get to him. I didn't think he was like that, but that's what the abortion stuff looks like to me.
The legal stuff will help him electorally A LOT more than it will hurt him. The January 6th stuff is bad, but not as bad as originally proclaimed by the media or by the committee. But some of it definitely leaves an irreconcilable stain on Trump's fitness for high office. And frankly, I think Biden's record as President will hurt Biden more than Trump's record on January 6th will hurt Trump. I'm aware I'm in the minority here as far as odds go.
Haven't seen that ad yet but I have seen an ad from a pro-Trump PAC attacking DeSantis on the Social Security issue many times over the last two weeks or so. Considering that voters who are either receiving or who are within 10 to 15 years of social security eligibility are a significant demographic in Republican primaries that's really not good news for Meatball Ron DeSanctimonious if the ad campaign is even remotely effective.

Struggling to see how Trump's map looks better now than 2020. Biden has a record, but so does Trump. He doesnt even have the "lets try something new" appeal. * It does seem its helped him in the primary, so there's that.
That's a fair point, not sure how much room Trump's base has to grow. But if it has any room to grow, wouldn't it be by institutions proving him right by launching politically motivated criminal trials against him?
The main thing Trump has going for him is that he draws out irregular voters, but I still don't see how he expands his vote.
It's definitely an uphill battle, but so far, I'd say his campaign (not his personal life) is going about as well as it could've gone to this point. I definitely wouldn't say the same about Biden, even though he hasn't really started campaigning.
I mean, he isn't campaigning from a prison and he's basically turned his most credible challenger into a joke before he even declared his candidacy, so I suppose that's true. But I would say Biden being alive and kicking means it's going about as well as it could at this point though.

That crap might fire up the GOP base but most sane people voting in the general see multiple indictments as a negative.
You are pointing out the flaws in their moronic disinformation bubble. They think because the Fox crowd gets tumescent when Trump is arrested that it will carry over to the 3-digit-IQ part of the electorate when we all know the opposite is true.
They seem to forget the worst for Trump criminally has yet to come. All he will have left is his core base. Decent, educated people will not be flocking to support him.
Problem is the GOP has courted the far right crazy and has zero chance now of putting that genie back in the bottle and rallying around a normal conservative or moderate.
The only normal conservatives (with open eyes) I see on the national stage are Nancy Mace and John Sununu. I think Sununu has said he’d vote for Trump if nominated (he’s probably just having a little fun with that).
Problem is 99.99% of the supposed unbiased media get to define to the masses who is and who is not a right wing nut fanatic, nazi, homophobe, transphobe, climate denier, (not that in their eyes any actually exist)...don't see a red team potus anytime soon unless the only difference in their political philosophy is party.
The shift of Ron to emphasize culture battles, use of his office to grandstand and stick it his perceived enemies (Disney, local governmental entities) instead of his efforts in his first few years in office, is a major misstep IMO for someone seeking the presidency. He somehow thought he had to appeal to the Trump crowd and I don't think that was necessary. Those that had jumped off the Trump train post 2020 election were looking for someone NOT like Trump and those still on the train were staying there regardless. All RD has done is give the Democrats major ammo come general election time. I thought this David Brooks column on the migration to warmer southern states was interesting. It noted that folks were moving to urban areas but not for cultural reasons, but economic. It's sort of my position. Do I like the lefts outlandish cultural attempts?
