That's exactly what it is. DeSantis is being painted week by Trump and the longer he sits out the harder it will be for him

You only need a majority to add more judges (especially if you nuke the filibuster). And the other branches are the ones responsible for enforcing the judiciary's decrees. If the people stop seeing the judiciary as legitimate, those decrees stop carrying the force of law. That's what judges in the past understood. The FedSoc culture warriors seem to lack that awareness (except for Roberts).

Correct me if I’m wrong, only reason DeSantis hasn’t declared is so that he can continue parading around the country on the Florida tax payers’ dime.

Maybe. I am probably wrong, but I think it is a very tough decision for him & waiting allows him to be more informed. From what I've seen, my advice to him would be "don't antagonize the cult". In other words, don't run against Trump. Bootsie's problem is that he has to beat Trump AND win the general. I don't see it happening. From day 1 Trump has cultivated a loyalty to HIM, not the pub party. He has very effectively weaponized his cult against pubs. Trump seems quite fine with a party of BIG GOV carnival barking, anti American morons as long as they bend the knee to him. At this pt, I think antagonizing the cult could even hurt Bootsie in 2028. So, once again, I predict Chy-na Ron does not run if Trump stays around.

They got a fair amount done in 2021 and 2022 with only 50 Dems in the senate.

Liberals don't understand what is going on because the main stream media is feeding them false information. I would share Fox news does not do a good job either. DeSantis has zero chance. Vivek is the guy to make noise. He appears to be MAGA.

I guess we're talking about 2 different things. I'm talking about the effect that crazy right-wing judge decisions will have on elections, and thus the makeup of legislative and executive branches at the national and state levels. There is (hopefully) a cost to loading up the judiciary with right-wing nuts. But you are correct, it will be hard to remove those nuts unless they die or retire.

I believe DeSantis was expecting Trump to already be out of the way at this point, and is flailing a little because he knows his path to the White House is Trump's voters, but he can't have those voters if he beats Trump, only if Trump is out of the way and DeSantis takes up his mantle.

And I think that honestly may be his strategy.

He seems more worried about beating Donald Trump in a primary than beating Joe Biden in the general. And to beat Donald Trump, he feels like he needs a more conservative record than Donald Trump. It looks like he's doing just that, but there is such a thing as too conservative for the majority of American conservatives, especially on issues like abortion.

He's still my ideal pick in 2024, but as a strategic political move, it looks like he went too far on abortion. He should've left good enough alone at 16 weeks or wherever the original line was that he drew. Now, he'll probably suffer political consequences for it.

Contrary to leftist opinions, culture wars is still a feature not a bug for Republican candidates, but you have to be careful in handling them.

"The Cult" is 70+ million people and growing. MAGA is a movement, not a man. The cult is loyal to the movement. The GOP is the enemy and in lock step with the Dems. It's called the Uni-party. The politicians and bureaucrats of the Uni-party only care about staying in power as long as possible. MAGA is a threat to that power.

I don't think the GOP cares about RDS, but his percentage of votes to help beat Trump. I believe this is why Youngkin and Pompeo have bailed to help RDS increase his floor of 25%. The Uni-party or political class will do anything to stop Trump. They will discard RDS after Trump beats him easily.

I don’t think you’re wrong about both parties essentially doing the same thing, bought by corporate America.
Problem is, Trump is no leader and can never win again. Scumbag.
    Here’s hoping Haley gets through.

I really don't think he was expecting Trump to drop at this point, maybe implode, but not drop out.

I think he's waiting for him to implode and Trump is actually in this perfect storm where it's looking more like his chances are going up than anything, while DeSantis is grasping at straws a bit (with his actions, not rhetoric) to get ahead of Trump, to try and technically start the race ahead of Trump.
