I really hope we get Perry. With him we are stacked at the guard position and will be a tough team to guard next year.
I want the center from Charlotte. 6 ft 11 inches and can shoot from 3. Good complement to the center from Marshall.
I totally agree. Aly Khalifa 6' 11'' 240 Can shoot the three and is an INSANE passer! Likes to score in the paint. Crossing fingers!
A lot to like here. He may not excel quite as much against more athletic and equally sized, bigs, but he shows a lot of feel for the game and feel for *his* game. I think he'll do just fine in the SEC, and then some. I get it, these are highlight reels, but he looks to be always in control. Always off two feet (I think he went off one once in that whole video). Just a good sense for what's going on with the other 9 on the floor. Yes, please.
Holy smokes Batman - 6'-9" 6'-10" 6-9" 6'-11" 7'-1" Remember the YEARS we hardly had anyone 6'-9"????
Totally. Only issue is we'll have 6'2" (Clayton), 6'4" (Richard) and 6'5" (Kugel) on the floor together *a lot*. Not horribly undersized at the 1-3, and our 6'4" shooting guard rebounds at a ridiculous rate, but not a tall 1-3. Probably a lot of 6'8" (Jarvis) at the four (average height). But plenty of size at the 5. A lot of versatility with this roater (especially if we get Khalifa) and options to go big when needed.
True freshman Condon signed today. He is listed at 6'11" on floridagators.com and 6'10"/230 on 247 Sports. It'll be interesting to see how he develops.
think I read that he also is a good defensive rebounder based on advanced stats. Though I admit I’ve been reading about a lot of players so could be confused.
Zane Meeks, 6 9 forward who played at San Fran, I’m guessing under Golden, entered the portal. Averaged 11 points 5 boards
Old friend and former gator, Illini and jax player Omar Payne back in the portal as a grad transfer. Has one (Covid) year left to play.
KenPom calculated a stat called “effective height”, which was only the average of the PF and C positions. The rationale for this calculation is no longer available, but if I recall, it was that most rebounds and important shot alterations happen with these two positions down low. I believe that the correlations for these stats were stronger when the heights of the 1-3 were removed from the analysis. Height and Other Stuff page | The kenpom.com blog
Updated OP Here's where I have us as of 4/11 4/15 (new additions): Richard ('22/'23 So) 6'4" Aberdeen (Fr) 6'5" Kugel (Fr) 6'5" Szymczyk (Fr) 6'10" Clayton (Iona So transfer) 6'2" Jarvis (Yale grad transfer) 6'8" Haugh (Incoming Fr) 6'9" Condon (Incoming Fr) 6'11" Handlogten (Marshall Fr transfer) 7'1"
Trying to draft a two deep out of this, so we can see where the obvious holes are. Folks will disagree with some of the positioning, which is fine. It makes for good discussion. PG: Kugel (So), Aberdeen (So) SG: Clayton (Jr), ____________ SF: Richard (Jr), ____________ / Haugh (Fr) PF: Jarvis (Sr), Szymczyk (So), Condon (Fr) C: Handlogten (So), ___________ I'm not banking on Haugh or Condon playing much, but could be wrong. Some might think of Haugh as more of a PF. Either way, he will be overmatched in the SEC at either the SF/PF position. I hope the next transfers are ready-to-play SG and C. Sure, we could use a wing, but Kugel can slide over there when necessary. SG and C should be the priority. Edit: If we get a PG, that frees up Kugel to play more at the two. But does that clog up the guard rotation? It seems we want Clayton to play and while we might be excited for him as a sixth man, I doubt that's what CTG sold him on for the transfer.
On it!
