If we had Trinity on all 4 events...She is #2 on floor. And that was our lowest score'd event. I'm sure she's thinking tying the Perfect 10 record is bittersweet. She really wanted a Natty for the team.
Did you see at the end of the broadcast when all the judges ripped off their tops and had Oklahoma Sooner shirts on underneath? Yeah, I missed that part too... but I'm pretty sure it happened.
Grateful Trinity was able to compete today and tie the 10 record. She showed so much heart, strength, bravery and determination. It would sucked if she was not able to compete today. She's an amazing Gator on and off the field. Congrats to our entire team, who never gave up and came out a little bit short....
Sooners fan here, I really thought Gators are going to win it all after that performance by Trinity but tough loss but you all had a great season and you all should be proud of your ladies!
Watching the tears roll down her cheeks during her interview on Thursday made me tear up as well. What a great Gator and person.
I thought Oklahoma was the most consistent team there and performed at a high quality level on all events. I would take an educated guess and say that none of us are qualified to pass judgment on the judges and I refuse to even hint that there was bias of any kind. I do know that in the national championship meet there are 6 judges for each event. They throw out the lowest and highest scores and average the remaining 4. There are considerations given for the difficulty of each routine and there are certain mandatory things each lady must do in each event. I honestly believe the quality of the judging is much better at the Nationals than it is during the regular season and even better than in conference tournaments and Regionals. I'm a homer and love our Gators and am extremely proud of how they competed today, especially without Trinity Thomas, arguably the best gymnast in the U.S., being able to participate in 2 routines. But as good as our team performed, I thought the Sooners were slightly better. Congrats to them. As Ric Flair used to say, to be the best, you gotta beat the best and we came up just a hair short. But I have no doubt we'll be back in the hunt next year. Goooo Gators!!!
Oh well but to be fair, when Sooners and Gators were co-champions in 2014, Gators should have won that instead of the Sooners since I thought Gators did better but being co-champions is weird
Well..the only place they scored better was floor ...normally we do better there too..but congrats to them And Gators gymnastics team is #1 in my mind and heart Go Gators
Looking towards next season am I correct that some gymnasts will leave college to focus on World competition? I heard Chiles of UCLA and our Olympic team say she would cheer for her team next year even though she wouldn’t be there. She was a sophomore this season. I’m thinking we could lose Wong and DiCello if true.
Very proud of our team. Without Trin on two events, I was just hoping we wouldn't come in fourth. The ladies were clutch in 3 of 4 events. Huge shout out to Victoria for her strong contributions in every event! She saved us on beam.
