I will not watch, it’s slightly less stupid looking than Sharknado. Seriously so much good stuff to watch. we should expand this to TV series which are much more interesting since the pandemic.
The last James Bond movie was just about the best in the entire franchises. Maverick a worthy sequal to Top Gun (better actdually). Yellowstone if you haven't been keeping up. I'm reading and watching Lonesome Dove (a few decades late to this little double gem, but so far, up to recs--which are off the charts for both book and movie (odd that this somehow never penetrated the circles I run/ran with all these decades...)). fwiw.

The concept strikes me as funny, but not particularly compelling; but the buzz seems to make it a tad more inviting. That's why I asked; see if anyone here confirms the buzz...or kills it.
wrt TV been enjoying Beef on Netflix & Loudermilk on Prime. & if you have not seen Wayne on prime you should. It’s romance & violence…if you don’t like the first 10 min, turn it off.

To my knowledge, there is not going to be a season 2. I have mixed feelings. It seems impossible to keep up the All Killer, no Filler vibe of what IMO is 1 of the best shows ever made.
Loved the way Gus, Woodrow, and Jake talked to each other. There was definitely a brotherly bond. I had read the book before the miniseries and it was still fabulous.
Agreed. The dialogue is very natural, believable, and subdued (not over the top), engaging, and entertaning. I stumbled accross a pod cast about the book from some guy from the Art of Manliness, who gushed about it with another guy who interviewed McMurtry, and was like an expert about him and his work or something (McMurtry said he was largely inspired by and influenced by don Quixote (McCrae=DQ, Call=Sancho Panza, Clara/Lorie = Dulcinea del Toboso, Texas Rangers = knights errant, the cattle drive to Montana = DQ's jourey, the various adventures = DQ's sallies...). That's not to say it's exactly parallel, but it seems to be tracking the structure. Then I ran a search for best westerns books--and damn if Lonesome Dove wasn't on top (or damn near the top) of most every list. Don't think I've ever seen a single book stand out against a genre--like some romance novel standing out atop all the best romance novel lists or something... ...and the movie---the casting was brilliant. Duvall as Gus, TLJ as Call, Danny Glover as Deet, Diane Lane as Lorie, Robert Urich as Jake.... just a bang up job by whoever was in charge of the casting.
Except I didn't like the end where they sat quietly at the table. The rest of it was awesome. Especially liked Ed Harris's character.
Just watched the movie “The stranger” on Netflix. Actually kind of liked it. Based on true story, slow paced. Definitely not an action shoot ‘em up. I’m generally not a big fan of comedies but going back always I really liked the movie “Sideways”. I watched the recent movie in the Luther series. Ok kind of meh. My two favorite TV series are Mad Men and The Wire. Maybe Breaking bad third. Better Call Saul was good, although unlike most I wasn’t really big on the last season. It’s been a while but House was a good series, and I actually liked Lost. I’ve kind of tired of Yellow Stone, but I enjoyed 1883 much more and would recommend it. 1923 started interesting but to me is just an earlier version of Yellowstone. Looking through best Netflix Movies, these are ones I liked Netflix’s 100 Best Movies Right Now (April 2023) << Rotten Tomatoes – Movie and TV News - Hurt Locker - very good - Hell or high water - good - Mudbound - ok - the Irishman - good (Good Fellas is one of my all time favorites, and you can’t go wrong with just about any Scorsese movie) - power of the dog - ok but really slow. It’s different - Moneyball - excellent ( the Big Short is also great) - captain Phillips - good - American hustle - ok - El Camino - ok -Parenthood - good (there was also a TV series Parenthood that was surprisingly good) - zero dark 30-good - full metal jacket - very good - Up in the air - good - imitation game-good - minority report - good/very good - trial of Chicago 7 - good - Donnie Brasco - excellent - inception - very good - American beauty - very good, maybe excellent
Based on your rating system, we have similar tastes in tv/movies. I’m into more slow burn than action. And I don’t care much for the gore, though I can handle it mostly.
Triangle of Sadness was a wild ride, same with EEAAO. Elvis was just mesmerizing too watch. What a story to go along with the music and visuals. The actor was phenomenal. Banshees of Inisherin and All Quiet on the Western Front were both excellent. A newer series my parter got me to binge with her was Daisy Jones and the Six on Amazon Prime. Based on the novel inspired by Stevie Nix, of a fictional 70’s bands trials and tribulations (mostly between the band’s male and female singer), that was really entertaining, an emotional rollercoaster, and has some great music. Didn’t realize watching, but the lead female is Elvis’s granddaughter.
