Yet they had no problem calling out Biden for being in Ukraine when the derailment disaster happened in Ohio, lol. Interesting.

So, right wing hate mongers got pissed that their BS bigotry was called out on a national scale? Somehow, that is "slammed"?

Um...maybe because they are in an environment that is hostile to their life choices and they are feeling more hopeless becasue the "supreme leaders" of the state are attacking them on all fronts.

'Nothing says "we have your back" like persuading psychologically unstable teenagers that the environment they live in is even more hostile and hopeless than they imagine it to be.'

And yet they have no problem with psychologically unstable oldsters moving to The Villages. Imagine that.

As expected DeSantis drives another nail into his hopes to be President coffin by signing one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country. Republicans will never learn that doing things the country is against is never in their best interest.

and now a Catholic leader is calling DeS out for his lack of empathy with new law making it illegal to provide transportation to ilegal immigrants. How are all of those people picking all of our fruits and vegetables supposed to get to the fields everyday? ready, shoot, aim

Catholic leader accuses Ron DeSantis — who has positioned himself as a defender of the Christian faith — and Florida Republicans of seeking to criminalize 'empathy' with new anti-immigrant crackdown (msn.com)

    • Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski says a Republican immigration bill would criminalize "empathy."
    • Backed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the bill makes it a crime to knowingly transport an undocumented migrant.
    • Wenski accused Florida Republicans of trying to "demonize" vulnerable people.
A proposal in Florida that would make it a felony to knowingly provide transportation to an undocumented immigrant is a "punitive" measure that would effectively make it illegal to be a good Christian, the Catholic archbishop of Miami said Thursday, accusing its promoters — including Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis — of seeking to criminalize "empathy."

There are around 772,000 undocumented immigrants in Florida, according to the Migration Policy Institute; around half have resided in the United States for more than a decade. Under a bill making its way through Florida's GOP-led legislature, providing any of those people transportation, be it to a school or church, would be a felony offense and conflated with trafficking, with violators risking prison time.

Republicans have successfully convinced the more ignorant immigrant population that the Democrats are the same as the Socialists many of them left behind in south and central America.

It is time that the Democrats come out swinging and show voters, especially women and young people, that the Republicans are the EXACT same as the Taliban. They want people uneducated, brainwashed into being servile to the state and to the one and only version of religion and morality - the new Republi-ban version of Sharia Law.

Good, about time. DeSanti-ban has wrapped himself in his phony version of religion and mortality for months now. Finally an institution more powerful than even Disney is taking a stand.

I don’t believe the rank and file Rs want these things but they keep electing leadership that pass legislation that sure seems to promote them.

I think at least part of this stems from our extreme tribal tendencies. If you ask a person, would you agree with X? They might say of course not. Ask the same person whether they agree with [insert their favorite leader]’s decision to do X, and they will often provide the opposite answer.

It seems at least as common for our preferences to be shaped by the actions of our leader of choice as it is for our preferences to determine which leader we choose.

and Democrats let them do it. the lack of professionalism and effort of the democratic party in the state of Florida should be embarrassing for them and has negatively impacted all of us. and don't get me started about their selection of candidates. classic example of we have met the enemy and it is us.

They probably don’t, but they still inexplicably want DeSantis. I can’t figure out the logic.

did they have a better choice?

DeS wasn't this bad in his first term, not sure if the change is because he knows he is now term limited or because he thinks it will help him on the national stage

He's gotten progressively worse every year he's been governor. His first year actually showed some promise. Then he started veering more and more into the culture wars and authoritarianism. Now he is beyond horrible.

Republican voters don't like Republican policies, but they really don't like Democrats. That's why Trump was popular; he acted like a Republican but favored a lot of Democratic policies.

Yes, they really hate Democrats and vote against their own best interests instead. If you separate the issue from the candidates, and just put it up for a vote, the side Dems support often wins in deep red states. Medicaid expansion won in Oklahoma, abortion rights won in Kansas, etc...
