After Matt Taibbi Leaves Twitter, Elon Musk ‘Shadow Bans’ All Of Taibbi’s Tweets, Including The Twitter Files

Then, a little later on Saturday, people realized that searching for Matt Taibbi’s account… turned up nothing. Taibbi wrote on Substack that he believed all his Twitter Files had been “removed” as first pointed out by William LeGate:

But, if you dug into Taibbi’s Twitter account, you could still find them. Mashable’s Matt Binder solved the mystery and revealed, somewhat hilariously, that Taibbi’s acount appears to have been “max deboosted” or, in Twitter’s terms, had the highest level of visibility filters applied, meaning you can’t find Taibbi in search. Or, in the parlance of today, he shadowbanned Matt Taibbi.

Again, this shouldn’t be a surprise, even though the irony is super thick. Early Twitter Files revealed that Twitter had long used visibility filtering to limit the spread of certain accounts. Musk screamed about how this was horrible shadowbanning… but then proceeded to use those tools to suppress speech of people he disliked. And now he’s using the tool, at max power, to hide Taibbi and the very files that we were (falsely) told “exposed” how old Twitter shadow banned people. This is way more ironic than the Alanis song.

So, yes, we went from Taibbi praising Elon Musk for supporting free speech and supposedly helping to expose the evil shadowbanning of the old regime, and refusing to criticize Musk on anything, to Taibbi leaving Twitter, and Musk not just unfollowing him but shadowbanning him and all his Twitter Files.

The whole thing is really odd. Not sure why Taibbi called out Mehdi Hasan - much less went on his show. He's one of the toughest interviewers around. Taibbi came across as very unprepared, and that exchange seemed to start whatever has been happening sense.

Microsoft drops twitter. Elon stamps his feet and threatens to sue. Look for other major companeis to follow after twitter dropped hate speech protection against LGBTQ

Microsoft Removes Twitter From Ad Program; Musk Threatens Suit (msn.com)

Microsoft Corp. said its social media planning and scheduling tools for advertisers will no longer support Twitter, after the Elon Musk-owned social network started charging for access to its programming interface.

Musk responded to the announcement by accusing Microsoft of using Twitter data “illegally” and threatening a lawsuit. The billionaire, who bought Twitter last year, is changing the company’s policy to charge businesses for access to its stream of data.

Microsoft’s Smart Campaigns service helps advertisers manage social media campaigns on services including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. As of April 25, users of the product won’t be able to do things like create tweets and drafts, or see past tweets and engagement, the company said Wednesday.

It is broken. ‘Misinformation’ beginning to leak out about Ukraine, vaccines, etc. Prior to Elon they clamped down on off-plantation viewpoints.

Holy crap has Elon messed Twitter up. No celebrities are paying for blue check marks. Now the only people who have them are people dumb enough to give $8 to the worlds richest man. It now means nothing. Hilarious.

Elon thinks celebrities are his users. They aren’t. They are the product people are there to see… the main show. If there is no show there is no twitter.

    Pound foolish penny wise.

Its like a bunch of people decided to join a club, only to realize that the people they wanted to be compared to in joining that club had already left the club. Now, they are big mad at those people for leaving. All because they really wanted to feel special for $8 a month, and now they don't, as their signal now just signals them as needy people who wanted social validation.

Thing looking bleak for Elon Tesla and Twatter are circling the drain

CNBC Stock Analyst's Brutal Rant On Elon Musk's Businesses

We know that he had been selling Tesla shares all year last year to fund his purchase of Twitter. We know that SpaceX has been for sale. He’s been looking to raise capital that way. You know, if this stock were to continue to go lower, if they are pushing out a manned trip to the moon, and that’s what the whole idea of this rocket launch was today on Twitter, they just marked down from $44 billion to $20 billion, got $13 billion.

This is not a generally very liquid person. He used to be able to get whatever lines that he wanted to, but now he’s got all these banks on the hook for this debt that he can’t service based on Twitter’s businesses. So to me, he might be entering the endgame here a little bit for being the CEO of all of these companies and being that levered.

And now when you look at this stock right here, it’s broken. The fundamentals have shifted. Not a single analyst on the street downgraded the stock. Okay. There’s plenty of price target downgrades.

They will be downgrading the stock lower. I’m just telling you that people over the next 3 to 6 months or so and that’s when you have a situation where, you know, who knows if he’s going to be in control of this company in the not so distant future, because it doesn’t seem like the “Elon aura” is playing out right now, the three biggest companies.
