Does Tucker know we killed bin Laden? Tucker Carlson says Jack Teixeira being treated worse than Osama Bin Laden And Tucker Carlson gives passionate defense of man arrested for allegedly leaking top secret defense information about Ukraine
This, and the potential Texas pardon, are good examples for those who don't believe that white males still get preferential treatment.
"Idiot wind Blowing every time you move your mouth Blowing down the back roads headin' south Idiot wind Blowing every time you move your teeth You're an idiot, babe It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe" --Bob Dylan
Tucker is undoubtedly aware that we killed bin Laden. His low information viewers, not so much. Let's not forget that the core of defamation lawsuit against Fox is documentation that its prime time infotainment stars knowingly lied (about alleged election fraud in the 2020 election) although in this case it more hyperbole than a blatant lie.
If Teixeira was a black lefty and documents he posted were favorable to China rather than Russia MTG and Donald Trump among others would be calling for his execution.
That’s an excellent question I’ve been wondering about myself. A lawyer with expertise on the subject-matter could give you a better answer, but from a military perspective I think it depends on the question of whether or not the accused intended for these damaging materials to be put in enemy hands, specifically China and Russia. There are clearly multiple, willful violations of the Espionage Act and other legislation: accessing material not required for job, putting classified material on unauthorized medium (personal camera), removing materials from SCIF without authorization or courier qualification, storing materials in unauthorized location (his home), transmitting materials to unauthorized server, sharing materials with unauthorized persons without clearance, etc. Those are just the actions we know about right now, and they are plenty enough to do some serious time, especially given the impact of this release, even if we don’t consider the treason angle. His most possible innocent circumstances are this: he just wanted to share the information with a select group of people he personally trusted, not the media, certainly not foreign governments. But then there was a hack, or a third party with more insidious intentions passed it along, etc. Frankly, that situation only mitigates the treason element, saving him from discussion of capital punishment (which should be realistic, but probably isn’t) and maybe the difference of whether he ever gets out of prison. He knowingly violated so many rules on purpose to cause this that there just is not any wiggle room based on his youth and ignorance. But what if, like Snowden, Teixeira, intended Russia to be informed, again, for whatever reasons. Then, yes, he is a traitor like Snowden. To review my position on Snowden, I advocate offering him safe return to the U.S. for a fair trial. In exchange for that level of cooperation, he would have treason charges and capital punishment dropped from consideration as well as be allowed to argue in court that he was a whistle blower. If he does not return (and he hasn’t), then he will be tried in absentia by military tribunal and prosecutors will seek the death penalty. If so convicted, then the President will be authorized to carry out the sentence at time and place of Presidential discretion. Since those are my feelings on Snowden, those are my feelings on Teixeira. If he meant for this to get out and endanger our people fighting for Ukraine, then he should be executed.
MTG is alot older than 24, not everyone’s brain reaches full development, so a purely “age” system obviously isn’t the way to go. Too many soldiers under the age of 21 lay their lives on the line to not trust them to the extent their mission parameters require them to be trusted with top secret intel. Ultimately *nobody* should be trusted to have unfettered/broad access to things they don’t need. Hell, we even saw that with President Trump where the intel community tried to hold back as much as possible for fear Trump would “accidentally” leak intel to our enemies. Obviously the President can order himself access to reports, but in a case like Trump it made sense to not volunteer anything not imminently required for actual policy decisions. Clearly this “kid” was still somewhat of a man-child, sounds like at least a part of it was showing off his access to his buddies. Even their name (Thug Shakers Central?) was telling of the immaturity. But that is no excuse. I think the Tucker’s and MTG’s of the world are sympatico with him because he apparently has shown some racist/white nationalist tendencies in his postings, which very well might mean there is more to it than showing off to his buddies (if he’s trying to undermine U.S. support of Ukraine as some far right groups are trying). Indeed if his leak is trying to undermine U.S. interests for political reasons, that makes him a traitor moreso than a mere “leaker”. It’s all about intent and motive.
does defending/encouraging his behaivor rise to the level of providing material support for the enemy? Shouldn't MTG be brought up on charges for supporting treason? to think that she is on the homeland defense committee is truly disturbing
Although it will never happen with the spineless Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House her security clearance should be removed immediately and she should lose all of her committee assignments.
There does seem to be an interesting dichotomy in the media's pursuit of this leaker's background, whereas those same outlets considered the SCOTUS leaker's identity to be largely irrelevant.
Can't defend this guy, but the VP can go see the family of the murdering trans. Never mentioning the the Christian kids or adults,he/she killed.
Totally different scenarios. The Supreme Court leak isn't “classified” and likely isn’t even a crime. Plus it was probably Thomas or Alito as the source anyway. Which is why the court swept it’s “internal investigation” under the rug with zero culpability. This d-bag potentially put lives on the line through his actions. Unlike the Biden and Trump documents, obviously he can’t plead ignorance. He went out of his way both to criminally obtain copies of the top secret documents and to illegally disseminate them. His leak also involves a current hot war, I doubt either Trump or Biden’s document snafu are nearly that relevant (although there of course were rumors Trumps cache included some “nuclear codes”, the suspicion/concern with Trump is that he planned to transact with some of his document hoard… no evidence he did, but it’s in his character).
