Is it to run the ball up the middle predictably? Or is it ti throw clean crossing routes and disrupt the flow of the game with 2 straight runs into the line like last year? Or more to show us what a good rythym for play calling CBN has?
When you spilt up your O line men -and your experienced starting center isn't playing-and they are trying different players and plays-experimenting so to speak-what do you expect-I have never in all my years (yeah-I am older lol) seen a spring game matter as to how we look in the fall-
Now we know why so many fans are so negative about our football program these days. They never went through real pain like we older fans have.
I don't think Billy had anything to do with calling plays for this. I asked earlier but I'm not sure who called plays for the offense. My guess is they kept it simple for Mertz and Miller.
In all fairness, qb's had very little time. It's hard to really assess the qb play when blocking isn't there. But still, most of long balls thrown were pretty much off target, so I think I can say with certainty, none of our qbs are Heisman hopefuls.
Yeah so do I -and I have had 40 plus years of using my functioning eyes and brain following the Gators-and can tell you-you can't base anything on a spring game..smh
D more aggressive, energy, mixed up blitzes… offense bland, predictable, bad footwork by qbs, good zip by Miller bad ball placement, no creativity in pass game, no flow for offense… even with errant snaps … still not good enough in SEC…. WRs looked better. Rbs next level good
Whatever-I am not reading opinions-I am reading total negativity-it's one thing to state constructive criticism-it another to lambast everything-
Well my 30 years as a Gator tells me there is one thing you can judge from a spring game- the performance of the team during the spring game. And it was pretty bad - on the offensive side of the ball at least.
You must have been 3 yrs. old. LOL. I was 15 when Larry Smith made his 94 yd. run with his pants falling down in 1966.
This is what I mean-constructive criticism-with the good and bad points-not stuff like we are going 2-6, going to be awful, etc.
They think it’s all about them… and if there is no razzle-dazzle and offensive fireworks then there is no hope. It’s mind blowing. It’s a practice game to try and give everyone up and down the 106 man roster an opportunity to get some live action to see who can handle what… who pairs better with who …and under what kind of pressure. Many of the comments & takes tonight were just asinine. But I’ve come to expect it unfortunately.
My observation from the stands was the portal transfers are all going to play meaningful downs and play key roles to this defense. The defense definitely looked way ahead of the offense. The quarterbacks never really got into a rhythm and I can’t really remember any throws where I was impressed. RB’s are legit, Pearsall is ready, Hendo had a few drops, Douglas/Burke/Jackson all made plays, they went deep to Mizell several times, Miller and Mertz are athletic, Smack struggled but hit the one that counted for the win, tackling seemed solid, the Dline for both teams were stout and most of all, glad we don’t play Georgia next week. Lol. QB’s need more work and Mertz and Miller look like it will be a battle till game 1. Go Gators!!!
I missed that, thanks for the clarification. The name doesn't ring a bell. Will have to look up what their position is.
