Sure sounds better than Florida lost another recruit. The Florida athletic department has a new leading entity for the program's NIL efforts. Working closely with the University Athletic Association (UAA), Florida Victorious is "focused on positively impacting the university community and supporting future Gator championship teams and student-athletes," according to a Tuesday press release. “Florida Victorious provides valuable NIL opportunities for our student-athletes thanks to fans who support Gator athletics,” said Florida athletics director Scott Stricklin. “There are a number of pillars that are key for success – facilities, academics, conference affiliation, geography and coaches. Sounds like Florida Victorious is a new entity and not just a renamed version of the other (Great Collection, or something like that). Will the new name be allowed to be discussed by name? Was the other name somehow engangled with Gator Country as it shared the same initials (hence forbidden to be named out loud)?
As I posted in the Awesome Recruiting thread, my understanding is that the former entity was "sold" and entirely new leadership is now at the helm . . . and the Florida family is now really getting behind the NIL in a much bigger way. The owners of Gator Country were on top of the old entity fast and early and, as a result, it wasn't/isn't to be discussed. It has nothing to do with shared initials. Let's leave it in the rearview mirror and quit worrying about why something couldn't be talked about. OK?
