Not sure this makes sense, considering both his size and the slow tempo he played last year.

I had high hopes for Bonham and that didn't work out so well.

I like the part about “in your face” defense. (Have some cheese anyone?) And the 40+ 3 shooting. But will he follow his coach?

Would take Clayton first but Perry would be a nice alternative if Clayton goes elsewhere. Big time 3 point shooter. Shot 271 3's this past year and hit 112 of them. That's certainly not a small sample size. Gritty player. Not sure he's a legitimate 5'11, but seems to have the it factor.

That's a fair assessment and could be an issue. I will say that Perry is a legitimate +40% 3 point shooter with a high volume of attempts. Bonham was only a 35% 3 point shooter coming on 89 attempts the year before with VMI. Perry on the other hand in 2 years at N. TX made 185 3's on 445 attempts (41.3%). Of courses the size of some of the other SEC teams could pose issues making this % go down.

I like that we are going after a ball handler that can score. PG production was a weakness last year. We lost two guys who took minutes running the point, and don’t think we want to be “Bonham or bust” at that spot, so it seems pretty obvious we need to add a PG.

The only downside I see is with Kuegel and Richards locked in on the wings, you might want to have a PG distribute more than shoot. But honestly our PG play was too passive this past year, so it is fine by me to swing it more towards a scoring PG, provided we are running good offense and not just jacking bad contested 3’s.

It would have been awesome to have a Chris Chiozza to drive into the paint and either score or dish to Colin Castleton. CC to CC, if you will. That would have been extremely difficult to defend. But Lofton wasn't that kind of a point guard. He was a get-the-team-settled-in-halfcourt kind of guy and was good at that. But our shooters overall weren't good enough to take advantage of sets. So we never fully got to take advantage of the Big Guy. Teams could crowd him and hold him and step on his foot and let our bad shooters fire away from outside. And they were more than happy to do just that.

We will see. Oates and Beard are two name coaches, if he wants to look at all his options can’t fault him for that.

With Bynum to BYU, where does Florida go from here if Perry goes elsewhere?

Dayshun Ruffin from Ole Miss is in the portal. He is a former McDonalds All-American who kicked our butts 2 seasons ago although he got outplayed by the infamous Ques Glover during the same season. He’s only 5’9”, but he’s a terrific playmaker. Ques also is out there, but he seems to be turned off by all of the negativity about him on Gator Country. Posh Alexander, from St. John’s is out there. I’m sure that there are plenty others in addition to a few high schoolers.

There are still plenty out there, with more possibly to come. Thomas is still a possibility if he reclassifies. I don't think the staff will rush here.

Biggest issue probably isn't naysaying fans. It's SEC transfer rules.

Ques will be a graduate student, so, I thought that he could transfer anywhere without sitting out. Ruffin has had some mental health issues, I believe, but I wonder if Ques made a silent commit to Ole Miss after his visit there this past weekend. If he did, that might have pushed Ruffin into the portal.

My understanding is that as of this date, any transfer in the portal would have to sit a year if transferring within the SEC.

That is a shocker to me. Wheeler didn’t sit out a year when he transferred from Georgia to Kentucky.
