It is only one game, but it was a great game. You could tell that FSU really wanted this one and we stole it from them. Winning a weekday home game against a team that won't make the NCAA tournament is usually not a reason to crow, but for some reason this was bigger than that.
Yes it did take forever, need some police assistance back there. Fievel Hall parking lot was not that busy last year but more people use it now. It's a bottle neck for sure as the fact that everyone stayed until the last out created that night mare!
We normally park near the north exit of that lot and go east instead of west and don't have a problem. We eventually gave up and headed south and we couldn't go straight to Archer or turn left but we had to turn right and so we took the next possible right like lots of other folks which meant that we kept people trying to exit to the west from the lots near Fifield Hall from exiting. Much of this snafu was due to Campus Police causing this problem.
Where is the "One Can Only Hope" emoji? Best case scenario is that FSU fans turn on Link and run him out of town before he can build a team that play his style of ball.
With every season and every Gator victory that passes, the stigma of the Holes not winning a NC while the Gators have balloons larger. Eventually the anchor will weigh too heavy around their necks and the program will tank. Perhaps that moment is now. Oh boy, to have Sully win his second while they have nothing.
I parked at the stadium, stayed until the last pitch, and was driving out of there in less than 5 minutes. Ancient Chinese secret weather balloon.
You rang. The last stats I pulled from this past weekend has Evans batting .333 with Runners on Base and .317 with two outs. Nothing great but good for Evans. I beleive the batter that has hit better than you would think with runners on was Robertson batting something like .430 with runners on. Those numbers for Evans will be higher now. But the best stat that I had jumping around in my head when Ty came to bat with runners on and two outs was that he was facing a RHP. Why is that important? Evans is only batting .206 verses RHP. That's what made that at bat so much more special against Kirkland a RHP. Some might say Evans is always better than Prevesk but I say in this example sitting Evans a game or two might have increased his desire to come thru at the key moment he was needed. He has been doing that quite a bit but rarely has he hit many homeruns lately. The tough question is, if Evans did start every game this week, would he have hit the homerun in his one at bat tonight? The world may never know but I'm glad he came thru when it counted.
I don't want this to become another string about who you like calling games, especially this thread. But I have to give credit when credit is due. Driving home after the game and listening to the radio postgame highlights, I was most impressed by Steve Russell's homerun call in the 8th. It was simple, like Steve is known to be, but with excitement and gave me the feeling I was there sharing the experience over again. I hope UF will combine that call with another vid and post it soon. Great job Steve and hope someone shares this with you.
Sully post game: Cags has to be in the mix for this team to do what it hopes to do this year. Not going to push the panic button because big picture we are winning series. If reaches a point where change needs to be made will do it but not there yet. Neely is an option but closer is as important as Friday night guy and you saw what we went through last year. Need to help take load off Cags such as more DH and less 1B - on Saturday would expect him to just hit.
Big time moment for Evans, no doubt. However please keep in mind the pitcher throwing for FSU's ERA was over 7.50..... It's now 8.44.
Kevin O'Sullivan Media Availability 4-11-23 That’s weird, I just noticed they stopped the video before all the Coppola Q&As. Go GATORS! .WESGATORS
