By: Eric Fawcett -- April 10, 2023 After landing a physical 6’8” forward in Yale’s EJ Jarvis and a 7’1” shot blocker and rebounder in Marshall’s Micah Handlogten the Gators are potentially looking for a little bit more offensive juice with one of their remaining frontcourt targets–Charlotte’s Aly Khalifa. His highlights are really good...excellent passer. Passes the ball like a guard. Very good at all 3 levels. I like this guy a lot.
Wow, he makes some GREAT passes in that video. I can certainly see a twin-towers attack with Handlogten and Aly. And Kugel and Richard will love all those passes.
He doesn’t seem supremely athletic, but damn does he have a feel for the game, which is much more valuable than the athleticism.
I like that he could contribute now and be a possible building block for the future. Some risk as to how well his game may transfer against the higher competition. Love that he can stretch defense with his 3 point shooting. Never too many guys who can shoot 3s.
Man, this guy looks really good. You don't have to be a high flying athlete when you're that skilled.
I was going to let this seep for awhile but Bill Walton was also great passing from the 5 especially the great year that Portland had. I know that lots of fans ridicule him for being an idiot on TV but he was really a different and very effective center in the NBA.
He was the best player in the NBA for a couple of seasons, and then his injury problems started. Awesome when he was at his peak.
Either big we are still recruiting would be “Great”. Aly shooting/passing/ and able to move around with basketball awareness, hope he sees that we have very elite guards/wings and he would fit at center and we could go very big with him and Micah. Maybe have Jarvis for more muscle at sf Or Haugh 6’9”. A big front line to go to Lexington with, LOL.
Maybe Cal's days are over for being at the top of the SEC. Maybe we look at matching up against other schools. Alabama?
The kid knows how to set picks and knows what to do after the pick. Hard to imagine BYU in the same conversation with UF.
With the lineup I was speaking of, we will matchup with any team in the SEC. Lexington has always has always been a mental hurdle for all Florida teams for many years. That doesn’t mean we haven’t won up there, but the norm has been losing most years up there but stealing one here and there. With a physical lineup up front, I would like to see us play bully ball like Arkansas, Texas A&M and Kentucky. Now with shooters out front and scorers under the boards, CTG is putting the best team I have seen at Florida since the 2006-7 team! Go Gators! PS: Chant with me, everybody, WE WANT ALI! WE WANT ALI! …………..
Unless he's Mormon Complete throwback type player that can also step out and hit the 3. He's a better passer than most guards and love the hook-shot, that will transfer well to this level. No one's blocking that at 6'11 with his wide body.
Yep. In this guard-dominated era, his skills in the post really stand out. Not many opponents will even be experienced in defending his stuff.
