Said he still wants to get better in all areas, particularly in his handle, and in his left hand, and in his floater.
Stats... Note the 43% 3-point shooting and 95% free-throwing. Those are GREAT numbers. Walter Clayton Jr. Stats, News, Bio | ESPN
Great work by Coach Golden. I like that we will have Clayton, and most of our recent transfers, for multiple years. There are only so many mid-major diamonds in the rough, so he needs to also step up his high school recruiting, but he is doing a great job of pulling in portal players to fill immediate needs.
This is one that I pointed to, and wanted before Pitino even announced the decision to leave. I’ve seen virtually every game of this kids career… And he is a fantastic player
there isnt much more to it… he is a Florida kid who wasn’t high major hoops recruit coming out of hs. He went to Iona soley to play for Pitino, who he has a great relationship with. When Rick left, Walter’s moved was a lock. Florida had a great vision and plan, and will allow him to play at “home”. That trumped a huge push from Pitino.
Yes, and the advanced metrics really bear this out, too. 55 effective fg %, 26.3 usage rate, 20.9 assist rate, 11.2 turnover rate, 3.5 steal rate would have all been top 3 among our regulars last year and usually best among our guards. He fits everything we want at guard: generates good shots, takes care of the ball, creates turnovers and gets to loose balls.
