By: Eric Fawcett -- April 9, 2023 As Florida looks to retool their frontcourt for the 2023-24 season it looks like they may be closing in on another commitment–this time from Seton Hall center Tyrese Samuel. Florida In Final Two Schools For Center Tyrese Samuel | GatorCountry.com
One is SEC game-ready today. The other needs a little polishing (could be SEC game-ready) but could also be a great backup this coming year and then take over next year. Florida is in a win-win position I think.
I like the idea of pairing the two bigs at the same time on occasion. I am sure Samuel will hear all about this option
Really is the direction we see college hoops going. Helps with some of the major areas analytics are underscoring now, like defensive rebounding rate and offensive/defensive 2pt efficiency.
Sounds like it may be cycling back to Old School Basketball, when you paired a couple of true bigs on the floor together. Basketball started evolving away from that with the 3-point shot and a shot clock, becoming more guard-oriented.
Yep...basketball and football are going back to ground and pound after going through a wave of speed and spread.
We have the beef! A front line with different players for different style teams. I bet the SEC teams are wondering, wtHeck! Now on to a truly great point guard! Thank you coaching staff, players and Tyrese!
I do think that Kugel can be a dominating point guard if he can tighten up his handle. Easier said than done.
