A right to bear arms, if obtained legally, still doesn't mean it's ok to walk into a bank and start shooting the place up. So, tell me, what makes a person decide that's a good idea? Once again, we have two pages of discussion about the gun issue and no discussion about the motivation of these people, and what pushes them to the point where the only solution is to kill other people.
Solve away. I have an open to listen. My opinion is guns are too well distributed in America to do anything about them and all we can do is to fortify schools.. but in this instance it didn’t work.
Good point. Let's ask the shooter what their motivation was. Or better yet, let's ask potential mass shooters to raise their hand and volunteer for a pysch eval. That will solve it! I realize I'm being snarky and that the psych piece has legitimacy. I'm just taken aback by what I perceive to be attempts to redirect talks about gun violence.
So not really relevant to the discussion much, but if their plan as an ex employee was to just go shoot up the bank, why not go try and rob it and get away with it? If things go bad you can shoot it up anyway, and if things go good you robbed a bank.
The poster I quoted equated this thread to the Tennessee 3 thread. I just suggested he make it about racism like the Tennessee 3 thread was turned into pretty quickly.
Actually my point was more about the GOP trying to silence anyone who dares to disagree with them, but thanks for playing.
He probably thought it was a good idea because he lives in a country that tells him its your god given legal right to get mad and buy a gun. That romances the gun as a way to claim your rights or show someone who's boss (like King George or the government). Sorry he used it for its intended purpose, I guess.

“The only answer is to arm bank tellers and give them titanium bullet proof vests. Problem solved!” - gun nuts, probably
They deflected from the school shooting a few weeks ago by blaming it on the liberal transgender agenda. Let’s see how they deflect from this one.
This argument drives me crazy. People will throw out anything to deflect away that a gun is involved. It implies that out 300 million + people in the country and almost 400 million guns, and the ability for just about anybody to get a gun with no obstacles and in many places carry it around in public, we can somehow get to the bottom of why people do it and just magically stop it. There always is going to be a small percent of people who at select points in their lives are seriously messed up. You have mental illness, crime, drugs, extreme grief, extreme anger, resentment violence glorified all around us in media and gaming, etc. If a mere 1 in 10,000 people acts out that would be 30,000 incidents a year. The fact is in our capitalist and democratic-ish society with lots of freedoms and limited resources there are going to be lots of seriously messed up people freely going about and occasionally doing really crazy shit. You can try to fix all those problems, or you just reduce or remove their access to guns. Which seems easier?
