    Absolutely
I saw him as a guest on Carson once and he was on fire sitting there next to Carson’s desk. Up and down, so animated and hilarious. All ad lib. He was the best of the best

Which one was televised? I remember watching one on TV in California around 1980 or so.

I wish I could go. It’ll be the first Orange and Blue game that I’ve missed in many years.

I remember a TV show that reviewed the Bob Hope shows around the country in late 83. Maybe this was what you were thinking of.
It was actually a prime time show- hard to imagine now.

Hope went to Clemson, UF, and many more campuses.
Of course, they didn't mention how he was booed at UF but they did have some footage of him at Growl.

Wikipedia says he performed in 1979 and again in 1983. 1979 is the one I saw on TV. 1983 is the one you’re referring to. The 1979 broadcast was the entire show iirc.

Bob Hope was the follow up to the Robin Williams one. Pendulum swings.

I think RW did "Death of a Sperm Ballet." The beginning of the end of Gator Growl.

I was there watching Robin Williams. He was fantastic that night. Ive never seen anybody get a crowd laughing so hard and have such a great time. Too bad the prudes were allowed to ruin the great Gator Growl event.

I saw both. What I heard back in the day was Williams language and innuendos were too harsh for thenAlumni. Bob Hope was too clean too boring and an asshat. Don’t get me started on Bill Cosby and the Herbie Hancock show…gag…

Used to go and make a weekend of it. Sometimes watch a baseball game as well. Work does not allow me the opportunity to drive 5 hours from ne way to watch O&B midweek. I assume attendance remains good. The rationale I heard is that Bama and other top programs had their Spring game on the weekend and this was a way to get top prospects on campus and provide full attention to them. Unclear if true Not for fans but for recruits.

I heard this, too. So, I guess the recruits have been prioritized over the fans. If it results in good recruiting and thus more wins, I'm for it. If it doesn't, I'm again' it.

I don't understand the reason for no television. To me this is just another way to further diminish enthusiasm and support for Gator football. Particularly after a dismal season one would think the administration would do every thing it could to boost enthusiasm and support.
