Absolutely, Walton will be smarter than us 99 out of a 100 times....but we will still have out opinions lol As the dad of a former college shortstop, I know exactly how those comments feel about your kid. Truth be told, I made some myself when he booted a ground ball
Yes-people can have opinions-but why be brutal? I understand that one can say-"hey, she isn't pitching very well today" But what I saw was not helpful ...it is okay to criticize your own-but many don't like it when others bash their kids-realize that no athlete is perfect-
I do hate the free passes but kinda always been her thing. This is probably an exaggeration on my part but it feels like the staff has given up more free passes these past two seasons than the previous 10 combined.
My late analysis of the game. Maddie Penta is the real deal and earned the shutout. It's truly a head scratcher that Delbrey didn't start the game, since she was obviously healthy and pitched very well when she came in. But by then it was too late. This team is just not going to overcome a 4-0 deficit against an elite pitcher very often, if ever. Defense yesterday was great; today not so much. But we won the series, which I don't think many people, including me, thought we would. I'm still wondering what's wrong with Kaila Pollard. Have to think she's either sick or hurt. Anyway, we're 6-6 in the SEC with our next 2 weekends against the top 2 teams in the conference - Georgia & Tennessee. Weekday games against UNF (1) and USF (2) over the next 2 weeks. Going to be a real challenge. But I'll keep pulling for our Gators!!!
I to wonder what’s up with Pollard. Delbrey had a great outing but I can’t agree that she’s obviously healthy, she missed the whole offseason so she’s not 100%. She’s also been struggling so perhaps her performance today was an unexpected surprise even for CTW. Nobody intended to give auburn a quick 4 spot. Coach had to think he’d at least get an inning. I’ll admit imo starting Bender was surprising but im not paid millions to make these decisions thankfully. Pitch by committee was the idea I think and Delbrey came in much sooner than intended but she did great. Obviously lots of things to address but they won a series vs a team with an elite pitcher.
Sweep would’ve been nice but overall we got results even if a bit ugly, baby steps. P.S. @ocalaman we missed you and I hope you enjoyed your day with friends!
There is no more time for baby steps. They have 16 games left in the regular season 11 of which are against #4 Tennessee, #6 FSU, #8 Georgia and #17 Kentucky. I sure hope things don't get ugly. If TW makes Gigante and Bender part of the regular rotation everything will work out just fine.
I thought we were all on the same page that season isn’t going to be the best in Gator history, positive steps forward need to be taken however no matter how small they might be. Odds are they aren’t going to win the SEC regular season title. The way things look in this moment hosting a regional isn’t close to a guarantee. This team can still make a splash in the SEC tournament and I believe they showed they are not going to be left out of the field of 64. When it comes to the playoffs anything can happen.
I’m not looking thru orange and blue glasses. This program right now isn’t close to the brand of Gator softball that I’m accustomed to and spoiled by. But for ffs enough with the doom and gloom negativity. Even in the loss today there was bright spots to celebrate but also issues that need addressing. I believe the team will get better going forward. Favorite to win the Natty? Of course not. Every success and failure is something they can build on. I’m choosing to be a cheerleader I guess.
Good point about Delbrey. I guess I should have said that if she was healthy enough to come in after 4 runs were on the board, she was healthy enough to get the start. Her velocity is down significantly from last year, but she still gets good movement on the ball. Free passes remain an issue, but she one of our Top 3 pitchers, even with whatever her limitations are, and to me should have started the game. I'm sure Coach had his reasons and have to trust the guy with all the wins he has.
I’m trying to be positive but I’m scratching my head too about the decision on who started. Coaches coach but athletes have to execute and unfortunately that didn’t happen today. I’ll assume some knowledge was gained. What I’m really wondering about is Pollard. I think we both agree Walsh HAS to be in the lineup but she’s maybe not best option at 2b. So if Pollards even healthy put her at 2b. Walsh dp? What happens with Swaggy P?
Your never going to hear his reasoning for TW has not had one post game press conference this year. I wonder why. The baseball team on the other hand has had at least five.
@Porschegator And if CTW holds a press conference what will we hear? Coach speak. There was an update recently on Trinity Thomas. She’s doing her best and we’re doing our best to help her. Coach speak. I want to know everything just as much as the rest of you but we aren’t going to be told anything. That said I myself would like to hear a little coach speak just to hear it.
Spot on!! CTW is at practices and we aren’t.We also don’t know things like health status. It’s been talked about before velo being down so maybe something they are monitoring that we don’t know about.
