Here's another thing....pretty much every athlete is going to tell you they will be back for the next game/match. That's the way they think. Reality rarely matches that mindset. I tailgated at an early mid season football game with a players relative. Kid had been out, but told family Friday night he was gonna play that Saturday. He got cleared 6 weeks later
Ferris upgrading to 2024 might mean Jenny Rowland already knows someone has decided to sit out 24 for a Paris Olympic run. Not to worry though, there are a number of gymnasts who will be doing the same thing. UF will be loaded again in the 25 season, but women's college gymnastics as a whole will likely be down a bit in the 24 season. EDIT: Saw where Dr. Sam reposted about UF having one more roster slot available for 24. However, if Wong and DeCello both take the year off, there could be as many as 3 slots available.
This is the final week of her UF career. Even if Trinity can only do bars and beam, that would be a big help. I'm hoping for a full recovery, just not going out on that limb of hope.
Nationals start on Thursday with UF performing in the afternoon session: No. 2 Florida Gymnastics Looks for NCAA Title No. 4 in Fort Worth - Florida Gators Trinity Thomas is still listed with a lower right leg injury and her status is day to day.
Good News for Utah: GRACE ON BARS : r/Gymnastics (reddit.com) Grace McCallum is apparently back, at least for bars: Could Grace McCallum return for the Utes’ trip to the gymnastics finals? (sltrib.com) I wouldn't be surprised to see Grace on bars and beam although she may not be needed on the beam which is a good event for Utah.
I have no idea what to make of this: O'Connell Center on Twitter: "When asked for an update on Trinity Thomas's status, @GatorsGym Head Coach Jenny Rowland said nothing but positive words! @Gym_Trin always is supportive, positive, and passionate toward her teammates no matter the barriers! #GoGators https://t.co/0Haf5SYnSe" / Twitter I guess we'll just have to wait until Thursday afternoon to find out. Interesting that Utah was more forthcoming on Grace McCallum.
Sorry to be negative, but IMO, without her we are showing up to collect our participation ribbon (something less than first).
A tweet from someone who's in Ft. Worth watching the women's gymnastics teams practicing (read the comments)
