Let's go for the sweep tomorrow! Can't believe I'm saying that thinking back to the start of this season.
Impressive and dominating. Great to see Waldrep at his best and Cade Fisher as well. Sweep would be sweet.
So this year so far..we beat them in basketball, won the baseball series...maybe a sweep....next up..football in the Swamp!
Even more good news, Vandy loses their first SEC game in the bottom of the 9th to Mizzou 5-4 on 4 consecutive singles.
I don't think the Gators have lost a road game yet. That's pretty incredible at this point in the season.
Excellent win tonight and win of the series on the road but this Vols' team can be swept- let's do it! Waldrep outstanding tonight and to me seems to be our best SP with his array of pitches and mental toughness. Vols ripe for the sweep. Hoping Cags can give us 5 soild innings and we have Slater and Neely to take us home. A few observations that may not sit well with some: I understand that BT has key leadership qualities important to our success but he has become a bit of a liability in the 4 or 5 hole- a K machine of late. Ditto with Evans who seems befuddled by breaking pitches off the plate. I'd drop BT in the order- as a veteran I'm sure he would not take it as an affront. Evans is a solid fielder but at minimum he should platoon with Prevesk. Can't argue with success in the re-worked lineup but not sure I fully agree with the mix. Long ball two night running has helped but not convinced this is the best mix.
Another great boxscore to look back on.... Team Names 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E Florida--------- 3 2 0 2 2 0 0 0 0- 9 8 0 Tennessee----- 0 2 0 0 0 0 1 0 0- 3 6 1
. While we have been an offensive juggernaut we often have been too impatient at the plate. Too many low pitch count K's. I don't mind a six or more pitch K against a starter as it gets the opposing pitcher's pitch count up. That is a quality at bat. I don't like the 3, 4 or 5 pitch K. Those are different at bats.
