If understood the Alligator article the other day she is graduating, and has played 4 years here soshe would have to transfer to play another year
Lost about 70% of our offense . Still have high high hopes for the Gators . So far returning we have Kyle, Mathuru, Zippy, Correa. Still a solid group of players. Add a transfer 4 , add Laila , and still have Perry, Rimdal, and Warren on the bench. Not really worried about this team at all !
heard we will be looking for at least 3 transfers up front if we can get them. We are going to be very thin with all leaving but Kyle. I mean one of the twins has not said she was leaving yet (I think she hasnt)but have to think she will go also. Zippy, Mathuru and Correa are scorers and Reynolds I believe will be able to score well this year. Kyle has really a nice inside game but had no one to compliment her inside this year. Remember Zippy was our best scorer 2 years ago and I think Berte off the ball is better then her at PG right now. I am interested to see how Myka and Warren develop, they both are long and athletic. Warren needs a good 15 lbs on her.
it is so hard getting information about the womens program on who they have been looking at as far as trying to get a transfer.
I don't think the coach survives next season. UF will be out there again seeking someone who can kickstart this moribund program. Hopefully someone that is a proven winner.
She will get two years. In part because we have a five star coming in that second year, in part because firing the woman thwt fast after he let the man’s behavior slide for so long will look awful, and in part because no one cares enough about WBB to force her out.
Kelly took over a program in turmoil in 2021 despite the coach being fired and losing (Lav) her best player. She took that fractured team to the N.C.A.A. Tourney. This past year she took a team that lost its star to graduation and it’s best returning player(Zippy) before the season started and had two starters go down with injuries. Despite that the team jelled late and went to the NIT where they won three games. Next year she has two five stars coming in (one is transfer from Texas who we could not get eligible for this past season and one is a freshman). She also has Zippy coming back and Lelani who may be our best player next year. She has already signed a five star for 2024. The people who are leaving are good people and good players but can see decreased playing time going forward. It is next to impossible to get information on who the WBB team is pursuing but if we can get a serviceable center in the portal we will be back in the tourney next year. Kelly isn’t going anywhere, hopefully for a long time.
You have to go back ten years to find a two year stretch as good as Finley has had these last two years, and she did it despite all the turmoil at the beginning. She is bringing in top talent and has the program headed up, and it is already in a better place than we have been for a while. But we do need an upgrade at center.
Kelly might seem mild mannered and soft to some during games but she is nothing like that in practice. She is hard nosed in her own way and a winner. People are always going to leave in this era of NIL. Give coach some time to build on the program she is just turning around. Finally the ladies basketball program has a head coach who can lift this program which has been our worst on campus to respectability.
She didn’t have to transfer to get the extra year. If you have eligibility, you have eligibility. They don’t force you to transfer to get it.
I like KK, but she was a walking turnover or she was a scoring machine. There was no inbetween for her
We already know South Carolina and LSU will be elite with Tennessee not far behind. Ole Miss and Georgia will also be legit squads. The program has to take a giant leap forward next season to keep up with those programs. Things will only get tougher beyond next season with 2 Top 25 programs (Oklahoma and Texas) joining. Hopefully, Coach Finley can put it together.
Cynthia paying off big on the recruiting trail..we are getting looks from top tier talent that we could not get before Cam came on campus and now Jordan and Kelly Rae have stepped up that game big time.
Perhaps it is just the recent portal recruiting success for the men's team that makes the near complete news black-out on WBB portal recruiting so conspicuous? Especially given that they have up to six spots to fill for next season. Talk about contrast.
honestly I am very frustrated with the lack of info coming from the womens program. It is not for lack of trying.
