Flag bill passing thru legislature now allows DeS favorites but prohibits ones he doesn't support. closer to autocracy every day

Florida bill would stop HOAs from prohibiting displays of certain flags on homes (yahoo.com)

Now, a bill moving in the State Capitol aims to protect homeowners’ right to display certain flags, regardless of any HOA restrictions.
    ..............................
The bill specifically protects homeowners’ right to display the US and Florida Flags, flags supporting law enforcement and other first responders, as well as the flags of the country’s military branches.

However, the bill would still allow HOAs to prohibit the display of other flags like those representing the LGBTQ community, causes like Black Lives Matter and flags supporting political candidates.

I believe that bill is redundant since flying a flag is considered speech, and can’t be banned by an HOA. If I remember there’s a huge confederate flag flying just north of Brandon on I-75.

EDIT: The HOA can control the type of installation and location of the flag pole, and the size of the flag, but a HOA is being sued in federal court for attempting to force a black man to remove a Black Lives Matter flag, while allowing Trump flags to be flown in the same exact manner.

I don’t recall a travel advisory being issued for an entire state before. DeSantis calls it a stunt and he would know.

Florida NAACP urges travel advisory amid DeSantis policies

The NAACP unanimously voted at the end of March to issue a travel advisory urging Black Americans to avoid visiting or moving to Florida, citing concerns over what they call “anti-black legislation.” It’s a direct response to several proposals from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ push for legislation banning diversity and inclusion initiatives.

DeSantis is aware of the potential travel advisory from the NAACP. During a press briefing in Clay County last month, DeSantis called the NAACP’s decision a “joke” and a “stunt,” adding “I’m not wasting my time on your stunts.”

Yikes. There has to be more to it than that, right?

A week after we filed our lawsuit against the state, a kid claiming to be the cousin of one of my son's classmates joined their snapchat group. They recorded their conversations, and anonymously reported my son to police for sharing a popular internet meme.

They said they had to complete a threat assessment since they received an anon complaint, which both the local cops and the school signed off on as not being a threat. The kids were joking about cops and video games, which included this meme:

Two weeks later, bringing us to earlier today, an officer told me the state issued a warrant for my son's arrest for "digital threats of terrorism." I asked on whose orders. The officer said it was the state. They aren't letting him come home tonight. They kidnapped my son.

I had to get my husband and daughter out of here because CPS now interprets my home as dangerous because they've charged my 13 year old son with a felony for sharing a meme. Less than a week after filing the first lawsuit in America against a state's Covid lies

Would like to know the specific threat he allegedly made. I have a hard time believing they arrested the kid for sharing a meme mocking cops.

There probably is more to this, but I dont have any trouble imagining cops or politicians weaponizing the law in such petty and terrifying fashion after I read that piece on what they did to that guy in the Villages

Now this small, petty, vindictive man is going to punish tourists because he can't let it appear that Disney won.

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday promised a new round of action against Disney in his ongoing dispute with the entertainment giant, including looking at the taxes on Disney’s hotels and imposing tolls on roads that serve its theme parks."

'Buckle up': DeSantis escalates Disney dispute, eyes hotel taxes and road tolls

Not only is DeSantis an uncharismatic loser, he's also a total crank on monetary policy:

Ron DeSantis’s Deranged Rant About the Fed Ought to Doom His Campaign

People that are worried about the strength of the dollar want to basically boost crypto?

This guy is absolutely horrendous. If you still support him after everything he has done, you’re part of the problem and should look yourself in the mirror. Worse than Trump, and it’s not close, really.

When will Florida ban credit and debit cards? We need to get rid of those suckers.

He's a total crank in general. Somebody on Twitter posted a passage from his book where he starts ranting about "elites," and then stops to make sure and clarify that wealthy and powerful right-wingers who attended elite institutions don't count as "elites" lol.

It’s quite common for HOA’s to ban political signage and flags. It’s tacky and low class.

I’ve seen some that must make exceptions for American flags, which is fine. But if they are going to allow Trump flags but not a black guy to fly a BLM flag that’s pretty blatantly a 1st amendment issue. Can’t have it both ways.
