Shoring up the frontcourt has been one of Florida’s priorities in the transfer portal and while they have already landed a post player in EJ Jarvis–they’d likely prefer he plays a little more at power forward than center.

To fill the center spot the Gators are looking at one of the most interesting centers in the portal–Micah Handlogten. Handlogten is originally from Huntersville, North Carolina, and just finished his freshman season at Marshall. Coming out of high school Handlogten when under-recruited–likely a result of COVID recruiting, the extra year of eligibility, and the early days of the transfer portal getting in the way of him getting the proper looks he deserved. Ultimately he chose Marshall over a host of other mid-major programs, essentially with no high-major looks.

7-footers grow like trees but they don't grow on trees. Sign him up.

Micah Handlogten College Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com

At Marshall, Micah Handlogten seems to be an excellent rebounder (9.8 reb/G) and shot blocker (75 blocks for 2023). His scoring(7.6 ppg) is a little bit low but that's why he is intrigued by both Florida and Georgia. See the development of center Collin Castleton blowing up stats-wise in his last three years at Florida!

Hope the good guys can land him!
If Golden can shore up that front-court with better overall rebounding than that bodes well for a nice bounce back season next year!

It has got to be a two way street about best fit.

I think that Golden would want a rim protector and defensive glass cleaner more that a low post scorer so he might fit in well. Without defensive rebounding it is really hard to push tempo on offense.

Looks more fluid than I expected. Think he'll fill out more in Florida's weight program. Looks promising to me.

If true, this is great news.
Lots of 7-footers are stiffs. He is not. As mentioned by G8rmann, he's got fluid moves, plus quick jumping and nice running of the floor. The video highlights, keep in mind, are all samples from his freshman season, in which most guys struggle and 7-footers really come in rail thin and uncoordinated. We would be getting him when he's ready to make the sophomore jump.

My biggest concern about him is that if 80% of the people on this board couldn’t spell Chris Richard, how the hell are they going to ………………

    From our new center:
"The facilities are absolutely beautiful and the amenities the student athletes have down there are insane.
I loved the players, I loved the coaches and got to build relationships with all of them. I absolutely love it there."
