what about the culture do you find repulsive? just curious? I can't stand the commercialization of it or the crowds but it is a business. We took our kids once each when they were in the 7 - 10 age group so they could have the experience but that was it. Fortunately, we have them indoctrinated such that they would rather hike a mountain looking for wildlife, do a walking tour of an ancient city, or go fishing or diving rather than go to Disney.

I’m with ya. Gave em the choice of hunting, fishing, wakeboarding etc or Disney and it was always the former.

Who's infrastructure? The infrastructure outside of Disney's property that is supposed to be handled by Orange and Seminole counties? Disney handles it's own infrastructure and it is top notch.

If you are referring to Disney contributing more to the infrastructure outside of it's own property, they do and have done that. One big incident was in 1989. Disney was threatened by Orange county after the county complained and was going to sue because once you hit roads, etc maintained by the county that were not Disney property, they were awful and falling apart. Orange even threatened to try to abolish Reedy over it and instead of fighting it, Disney contributed $13M to repave and fix roads that were the responsibility of the county. Disney has helped with other road projects outside of their property around the county to help traffic flow heading into the Disney area.

Good information. Thank you very much. This conversation has drifted. I never took a side between Disney and DeSantis. All I did was find it interesting that people who normally hate corporations were now cheering on a large corporation. That’s all.

I’ve gotten so much double bacon from people who disagree that I found a humorous, that I could start a diner. :D

Well what I find humorous is desantis and his buds in Tally attacking a corporation that his given millions to Republican candidates over the years including desantis himself. Have to wonder how that will impact future Disney contributions.

I suspect Disney contributions to DeSantis and Republicans dried up long before this brouhaha. But we’ll see.

Well, personal likes and dislikes I suppose. I find Disney so very contrived, artificial, and forced. We did other things with our sons - week long paddles during spring breaks of the Suwannee camping on the sandbars, backpacking in the Smokies or on the FL trail. Paddling and camping in Okefenokee. Just other stuff. Don’t find fault or want to criticize those who like Disney but I’m not one of them.

to Des it is bigger than the contributions, they told him something he didn't want to hear and did so publicly. totally unacceptable and cannot go unpunished lest someone else gets the idea that they do the same. he surrounds himself with yes men and deals harshly with anyone who dares to contradict him

At least you acknowledge the facts even if they might not agree with your original perception. If we all could learn to do that we would have a better gubmnt and a better country so props to you

Fascism permits private ownership and property. Communism Not so. Anyway, my original post pointed out that dictatorship os more accurate than fascist

The problem is that the second set of laws implemented the first. And both with retaliatory motive. He can’t criminalize what Disney did. And if he tries to unwind this, he puts the bond holders at risk. And now impairs a contract and takes away a property right.

But we know that there is private ownership in China and Russia and they have a bunch of billionaires and an enormous number of poor people.

I understand your point, but Disney did nit challenge the first slate of legislation. That would not be at issue. Additionally, Bondholder lawsuits is entirely separate from whether DeSantis actions the second time around would be upheld as lawful.

I don't know either way, but is it your opinion that Disney waived or failed to preserve any 1st Amendment and other arguments it had to the legislation because it didn't immediately sue?

I think it depends. I think Disney can use for the retaliatory action. But I think they’d have a really tough time if DeSantis creates NEW legislation aimed at Disney based in Disney’s actions to circumvent the earlier law.
