The Republicans already had a supermajority in the Senate. Impeaching a state supreme court justice because she won the election doesn't seem likely to me. Also, some people are calling the race for the R. EDIT: Additionally, it would be a pointless endeavor. Tony Evers, the Democratic Governor, would appoint the replacement justice. Second EDIT: I'm seeing now that Wisconsin also has a process for removing judges that requires two-thirds votes in BOTH chambers. The Republicans don't have a supermajority in the State Assembly.
So how to get the dem party fixed in Florida. Why isn't the national party stepping in to help clean up the mess?
Exactly who in the national Democratic Party is going to fix it? They hanging on by a thread with a 102 year old president and no backup plan.
The momentum is just going the wrong way. It’s an uphill battle. North FL is full MAGA. Most old people are Full MAGA. Cubans and Venezuelans think Democrats are socialists. Republicans seem to flocking to FL.
Latins think they are socialists because they have let the pubs paint them that way with no effort to counteract it. And there are lots of dems moving to Florida too
Get ready for 2024, Trumpets. Get your gallons of copium and MAGA tears ready. Gonna be a rude awakening for you all.
Agreed. Only qualifier from me about NW FL is that the Republicans I am close to think Gaetz is embarrassing and are tired of Trump. But they’re apparently not representative. I realized after Trump got away with mocking McCain’s service that something had changed.
I Think they only need 50 in the assembly to vote on it, but 2/3 in the senate to convict I think. But that would mean losing not one vote in the process, and risking backlash when the governor can appoint a new one anyway. Kind of a dumb idea.
It's not 100% clear because there are two constitutional provisions: The question is if both are operative or if only the later one is as applied to judges and justices. Even if both are operative, the question then becomes if impeachment is off the table because she hasn't committed a crime or engaged in corrupt conduct. If so, that would force the legislature to the second option, which requires two-thirds majority in both chambers.
Yeah…..the liberals won and it wasn’t even close. Goodbye extreme abortion restrictions, goodbye gerrymandering, goodbye Trumpism. Wisconsin State Supreme Court Live Election Results 2023
Agreed. It's become a magnet for deplorables. I see it as a good thing. Have then all consolidate in one terrible place to limit their national influence.
That’s interesting because republicans were bragging they were gaining a lot of support from zoomers.
