Walton is still relatively young so it's hard to project what the coaching market may look like 10 years down the road. If it were today I guess Beth Torina would be the logical move....UF alum, plenty of success and SEC experience. 10 years from now it may be Amanda Lorenze....who appears destined to be a coach and appears to have all the tools to be ultra successful. Glad she is out spreading her wings and gaining experience. IMO the best scenario is for her to learn some things outside the UF box, eventually return to UF as lead asst/recruiting coordinator, and eventually become that "head coach in waiting" behind Walton
Not saying the softballs were shall we say doctored, but 33 tuns in games 1 and 2,only 3 in game 3,makes you wonder
Also,if it found that the softballs were messed with, with is the penalty, suspension for the south Carolina coach?
UF Softball drops out of D1 Top 25. Wonder how long it's been since that happened? RPI ranking is #22. D1Softball Top 25: Indiana Climbs, Cal Enters the Chat
Holy crap! We're unranked? That's a hard pill to swallow. I was already resigned to the fact that I would be driving to Super Regionals (like last year) but to drive to Regionals? Wow.
you missed my earlier point, 32 runs in games 1 and 2 would, imo, mean the balls were normal. to go from that to only 3 runs in game 3 is strange,to say the least.also dropped from 33 hits in the first 2 games to a total of 6 by both teams in game 3, again, imo. very strange
I am surprised they are unranked. Because of past weeks, they’ve only moved a couple of places regardless of the disastrous outcomes. Maybe this is a wake-up call.
If the pitching coach and hitting coach are not awake yet (and they haven't been in 2 years), why do we suspect the players will get a wake up call? I my opinion, we have a collection of 3 (includes our whatever she does 1st base coach), very mediocre to poor coaches as our support staff. Until this changes (doubtful CTW will do so), nothing this year will change. Very hard to fire your friends and best buddy and college room mate (ask Dan Mullen). The only coaches that did so were Steve and Kevin. Who are 2 of our most successful coaches. Jeremy was a spendthrift and waited to long to spend any dollars but he did not put up with poor coaches and poor assistants. Until CTW bites the bullet, expect more of the same. Johnny cakes, Sandman, Scrappy and I will meet you somewhere for the Regionals, assuming we even make it!
Maybe I missed your point. I hate excuses. California losses were about crazy travel postponements and weather. Now, doctoring the balls. You have to learn to make adjustments regardless of the situation. Also, players watched the same pitch go by that were strikes because that’s what they were signaled to do.
Is Amanda coaching anywhere this season? I know a lot of people want her back here coaching now but in my opinion, Amanda seems destined to play softball for another 10 years. Then maybe she gets back into coaching.
I know you attend a lot of games, I wish I could, but I do watch. I see the subpar pitching and hitting wonder what is going through CTW's mind as he watches the same thing. The tough part of the schedule is coming up and I'm not very optimisyic. This series with the barners will tell a lot.
https://www.theknot.com/us/amanda-lorenz-and-griffin-mazur-dec-2023 Her fiancé is an assistant coach at Clemson. That's why she left Gator softball. Not sure if she's doing anything this year other than playing pro softball and working out with the USA National Team. Meet the Team | USA Softball | MLB.com
She moved to Clemson with her hubby. Doesn’t look like she’s landed a coaching gig yet. Just playing pro ball and for team usa. *Ocala beat me to the punch.
That “whatever 1B coach” is a very accomplished college softball player from UCF. The issue has been recruiting. The girls just didn’t develop or peaked in high school, it happens. Skyler, Falby, Nichols, Egan or getting the same coach and producing big time.
When CTW hangs up spikes, the new coach sure will not be Mike Bosch. Where is our pitcher development? Right. No one has developed. Do we want this guy with Keegan Rothrock? H--l to the no!!!
Agree 100.0% NO ONE is developing, at least not very much. This is a MASSIVE problem that needs to be rigorously addressed the very day the season ends. Yes, the season is not over, and maybe there is the magic rabbit to soon be pulled from the hat. However, up to now, this season is a total disaster. There is no more uncertainty on that, and it is no longer "early." Regardless, I love this softball program here, and I love The University of Florida. I shall continue to go to games and support our wonderful players.
