Yes. Why don’t we. UF used to make the claim it was the largest student run production in the USA. To me, it’s a shame traditions like Gator Growl fade or die out completely.
Of course I’m an old fogey.

Bob hope played gator growl twice…I guess about five years apart?
I was at both.
The first was one of the best Gator Growls I’ve ever been to. He was sharp and quick with his jokes, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed his show.
His second (the Irene Cara fiasco) was by far the worst gator growl I ever attended. They were reading off of big cue cards, and were very out of touch with the crowd.
He was so bad fans just started ignoring them, then eventually started an orange and blue cheer (which drowned him out) and after asking someone to explain what was going on (“it’s a cheer, Bob”) he said to the crowd “all right I’ve heard you now listen to me” which provoked the student body into booing
I was embarrassed we were doing but at the same time fully understood it was warranted

Remember seeing Seinfeld. He was pretty good, 88 or 89.

Haha I was there in school for that and man he wicked. Crowd went all out when he first came out but when he asked us to do it again, it went down hill from there. And Irene Cara was just awful lol

Georgia is the only team to get an actual TV Espn2 airing. Everyone else is relegated to SEC+ streaming only.

 

So, we went for a Thursday night only to NOT be televised live on TV? Wow, that kind of sucks.

 

If it was 2009 or 2010 we'd be the only one aired live on tv. It's a harsh reality but tv networks essentially run the college football world and want you to pay up stream the game live. I think partially the reason we're doing Thursday is to prepare for Utah which thanks to the Pac 12 is on a Thursday. It sucks but it's reality.

 

Gee, now I'll lose sleep over not getting to see who wins the scrimmage with my own eyes. I bleed blue and I just can't stand those orange guys.

 

I think it was early 90s when Paula Poundstone got the "Na na na na . . . hey hey hey . . . goodbye." It was embarrassing.

 

Robin Williams was one of the classic Gator Growls in '82. Very risqué for the time.
