I expect a minor recession 3rd and 4th quarter this year. I think it rebounds before the 2024 election.

I also agree that Trump has the nomination wrapped up but I thought that even before this indictment. Buckeyegator gonna owe me $50.

Trump's in the lead, but I'm not sure I understand so many people counting out DeSantis at this point. He hasn't even declared yet, and Trump's big name supporters seem to be Matt Gaetz and MTG. Even Tucker was privately saying he couldn't wait to be done with Trump. The party will rally around to defend Trump, but I'm just not sure most Republicans want another four years of Trump.

The NYC indictment as well as other indictments will propel Trump to victory in the Republican primaries, not so much in the general election. By the way as I pointed out in a previous post in this thread a gag order from the judge is not beyond the realm of possibility and if that happens it will put a real crimp on Trump's ability to use the media. Another reminder Trump's use of the media in support of his personally selected election deniers running in the swing states didn't work out very well in the midterms. The same is very likely in the general election following Trump's victory in the Republican primaries.
While the chance of a Trump conviction in NYC is by no means a sure thing, I don't think Bragg would have indicted the Orange One unless he thought that he had a reasonable chance of prevailing. Keep in mind we won't know the exact charges against Trump until the indictment is unsealed and other than the likelihood that Michael Cohen will testify we have absolutely no idea what evidence Bragg has and my guess is that it's credible documentation and even if Bragg should lose let's not forget that there is Trump's attempt to manipulate the election results in Georgia, his incitement of the failed insurrection on January 6th and his mishandling of the documents at Mar-a-Lago most significantly deliberately lying to the court regarding the disposition of the documents.

Not to mention the possibility that Allen Weisselberg could testify and/or provide documentation. So far he has refused to do so but that could be changing especially considering that he could be charged with additional crimes.
This could be an indication of that possibility considering that his now former attorneys were provided by the Trump Organization and his new attorney is a former Assistant DA.

One key player did not cooperate with prosecutors: Trump’s financial gatekeeper.

Trump didn’t have hardly any GOP support when he first came down the golden escalator either and it took until he had almost secured the nomination in 2016 to get broad support from the GOP. He probably prefers it that way, in fact.

Which of 45’s constitutional rights were violated by the process of a DA obtaining a sealed grand jury indictment to be made public at his criminal arraignment, especially considering he declined the opportunity to testify?

Please be specific in your response.

Interesting fact just reported ... The NY State correctional system is being overwhelmed with callers, mostly guys from Florida and Texas, asking how they can get arrested and become Trump's prison bitch... I guess we should have seen this coming.

Reliance on accountants will be part of his defense if financial crimes are in issue.

While Trump didn't have the support of the Republican establishment in 2016 once he became the presumptive nominee they gave him their unequivocal support including showering him with cash. Interestingly, although at least some in the establishment thought it was time to move on from Trump especially after his personally selected candidates lost virtually every swing state election in the midterms, it seems that they are rallying around him once more. Paraphrasing what another poster stated several months ago, there is virtually no chance of the Republican Party purging itself from the influence of Trump until he joins Ivana at the golf course in New Jersey. For those who may have missed the reference below is photo of the late Mrs. Trump's current location at Bedminster.

So you're saying that German courts circa 1940 prosecuted corrupt politicians who thought that they were above the law?
