He is definitely interesting at that size. And we saw how effective UConn and Bama were with kids like that protecting the rim. I also like the UVA center.
Also just read that he expects to play the 4 and 5, which really surprises me. I suspect he just means in a pinch.
Instant upgrade. Real basketball player. Aberdeen, Kugel, and EJ Jarvis combo is enough on its own to get me excited about next year. Haugh seems pretty legit, too. I like what Golden is building.
I laugh at that comment. If he had to match up against Oscar T. At Kentucky, he would have a wake-up call, LOL.
I mean, probably correct but he actually did matchup against Oscar this year. He scored 12 with 7 boards. Check the :35 mark. Let's hope we grab a serviceable center in the portal, so Jarvis can play the four.
Jarvis played three seasons at Yale, with only 43min in the first. So does that mean he has one or two years remaining? As a junior, he went 13 of 32 (.406) from three, not a high volume, but a good %. He attempted 79 FTs, hitting .722, which was a big improvement over his first two seasons. Compared with Fudge (56 attempts) and Reeves (62), I like the higher number of FT attempts. Other than Castleton, this has been a weakness of the Gators the past couple seasons. It will be great to have a person who can get their shot and get to the line when the shot doesn't fall.
Marshall kid is visiting Florida. 7'1", coordinated and with great feet. No back to the basket game from what I've seen but I really think he can develop an outside shot based on his form.
Not sure that's true. I posted this is the stickied thread after posing the question here. Yale did not play in 20-21, so Jarvis's other three years were in "non-Covid" impact years. NCAA Extra Year of Eligibility All student-athletes whose 2020-2021 season was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will now get 6 years to compete in 4 full seasons of their sport in college.
It wasn't my article . and I hope the information I provided is incorrect. Can you provide something definitive that suggests Jarvis has two more years of eligibility? That would be good news for us.
Your article is right. My apologies. The way I’ve been explaining it is incorrect. They weren’t given 6 years to play 5 (even though that’s the way it played out for pretty much everyone but the ivy league), they were given six years to play a FULL 4.
They gave it to football players who played a full season, including bowl games and a crowned champ. I guess their season was “affected” by covid, and it wasn’t a normal season, but they did play a whole season, and still got an extra year. *I’m reading that the ruling was made before the 2020 football season, and football players were given the option to sit out or play. Those who chose to play were already gifted their extra year, so they WERE actually given 6 years to play 5 full seasons. NCAA assumed the year would be cut short, but it wasn’t and they chose not to revoke the extra year for them. Every other sport was given 6 to play a FULL 4, so if they didn’t participate in the 2020 season, they just lost that year of play and were given one extra year to use it.
